Hello everyone I have moved one of my piggies to a different cage environment, he’s very still and quite, how long will it take for him to go back to normal?

It will take him some time but he absolutely needed to be moved given the situation with the other piggies.

Have you had to move him completely out of the room from the others now?

@Piggies&buns yes he is outside in a big two layered cage

Ok. Do look into your next steps whether that be bonding him with one of your others, looking for a new companion via boar dating or neutering him and finding a wife for him. Things won’t be straight forward with the current lockdown situations and actually getting him the friend will likely need to wait, but do consider what you are going to do for him going forward.

I’ll link in a guide for enrichment ideas that can help keep him occupied until you can find him a new friend. Things such as not using food bowls and instead hiding his pellets and veggies in amongst hay so he has to forage will help keep him busy and occupied for the time being.

Rescue centres will still take your details for a bonding waiting list

Enrichment Ideas for Guinea Pigs

@Piggies&buns is it enough distance to have between him and potential girl from my others I don’t want it to cause an argument between them, he is churring and trying to attack all so maybe I look into getting him neutered and finding him a girlfriend

@Piggies&buns what sort of age do I look for, for the girl do I get one that’s older then him or younger or same age

Age is irrelevant, it’s character compatibility which is the key part of a successful bond. A rescue centre will help find a suitable friend for him and you will only bring home a suitable piggy if you use a rescue centre.

Thank you for the private message you have sent me. In the interests of keeping everything in the open forum, I am going to reply here rather than to your private message though.

Its a shame you can’t find a suitable companion for him from amongst your current piggies but it was certainly worth a try. He may just be a boar who is territorial and won’t ever bond with another boar but he may be absolutely fine with a sow.

Definitely look to find a companion for him via dating at a rescue centre so that you don’t end up taking on all the risk of buying a pet shop piggy (we of course are a pro rescue forum). If his issues are not simply that he doesn’t like other boars and he has other things going on such as fear aggression, it is possible that he won’t bond with anybody else particularly easily so if a rescue centre attempts a bonding and it fails, then you won’t have taken on another piggy who will still end up single if he was to reject the other piggy.
