As I said in the title, just wanted to thank you all for the great advice! I'm the one who has the piggie with bladder stones (which he peed out on the vet's table a couple weeks ago). These past 2 weeks we have been feeding them lots of grass and fresh forage, and I was even lucky enough to find a wild patch full of timothy near my workplace.
I also bought a water filter and other supplies. Geezer has been getting quickly better, no more blood or complaining while peeing, so I gradually got him off the Metacam too. He is getting glucosamine daily, and their Vit C intake is getting slowly reduced as I was overdoing it.
Needless to say, all the piggies have been loving the change in food, they've been so excited and happy and looking so much healthier (not that they didn't look healthy before, but their coats seem even fluffier and their skin looks so moisturized! )
Another thing I noticed is that Geezer started drinking water a lot more! He's not a great drinker usually, but since getting grass, he just drinks like a normal piggy. On friday we have his next vet appointment and ultrasound, and I'm confident there won't be any bad surprises. So, thank you again so much everybody!
I do have one question though: how will I transition to Winter without them getting lack of nutrients? Even filling all my windowsills with grass I can't get through Finnish Winter with enough grass for them. How do you usually deal with lack of fresh grass during the colder months? Will the "normal" veggies be enough?
