With the help of my father in law i was able to build this cage for the piggies!

We finished faster than we thought lol with our busy schedule we thought it was going to take us longer to do but we finally finished it!

It has 4 wheels so its easier to move around, we used pet safe paint to paint it.

Here are some photos before we finished and after.

One side of the bottom of the second floor becomes a stair case so the piggies can go up and down if i ever decide to have all the piggies together. (thats of course after i get my boys neutered) lol for now I'm keeping them separate.

and yes thats a christmas fleece on Jlo's cage! lol i found it for $3 so i had to get it!

Lovely cage. The only thing I would say is you can't put 2 boars (boys) in with a group of sows (girls) because the boars will 100% fight with each other over the sows. It's only 1 Boar that will go with sows.

I second on this one Boars will fight if they are anywhere near sows or with Sows I would recommend not putting them together also what are the dimensions because it looks nice

really? Ive seen herds with two boards and 4 girls. But ill take your words for it, you guys are way more experience than me!

and the dimension of each floor is 48 inches by 30 inches

This girl that i follow has a herd with two boars. I wonder how she has been able to keep them together

I have 3 sows in with 2 boars but I know this is quite rare but everyone gets on well.

yeah? well my boys just recently started to get along again. i had them separate for a while because they were going at each other! So i wouldnt put them with any sows any time soon. I wouldnt want them to start fighting again. But it would be nice if after i get them neuter i could have them together with a few sows in the future

It is rare that they don't fight and I know that I am incredibly lucky! They are brothers and had a very strong bond before they were neutered and put in with their Mum, sister and Aunty. Mum Velvet is very dominant so doesn't take any cr*p from anyone, keeps them all in check and what she says goes so I think this helps too.

I think the reason they get along is because Little One was born into the group but I may be wrong and Sylvester is a very laid back pig

You know your Piggies best and must do what is right for them. It's great that your boys now get along after all the fighting. I was only letting you know what I have managed to do with my piggies so that you know that sometimes this is possible. I certainly wasn't suggesting that it would work for you so please don't think that! I do have a Plan B if the boys do ever fall out. I do monitor their body language closely.

Aww thats little adventures piggies. I follow her too. She was able to have 2 boars because her piggie pebbles was pregnant and had only 1 pup and was a male. Sylvester accepted him into his heard. Hope this helps!

I saw a video recently where she said that She had Little One neutered early at 3 weeks (or at less than 250g) and if you have them neutered so early, they are less likely to become as aggressive and dominant, and are more happy to be the second in charge... :)

My vet said that boars shouldn't be neutered until the testicles had descended at around 3-4 months to allow for the release of testosterone. My boars were born in May and were neutered in August. Christian is 3rd and Dennis is 4th in line behind Velvet (no one dares mess with her!) and Betsy. Poor Meg is the last in the pecking order although she is the largest guinea pig!

ooh thats an unusual cage, i like it

complete with fold'able ramp too! :tu:

I'm intrigued though... how do the clear perspex sheets stay up? are they screwed in a fixed position or are they move able on the hinges?

Also have you got a hay rack attached somewhere or do they have it in a heap out loose? Greedy piggies eaten it all already i bet

What did you use under the fleece to protect the wood- have you got a waterproof layer/vinyl/correx/plastic?

Loving your guinea pigs too aren't they just adorable :luv:

I was told the same too about neutering boars :) I was just mentioning it in reference to this specific heard of pigs. She said it was a different kind of neutering. I'm no expert at all. Might be different in the country she's in...
