Just found a new site where they have slightly different cages and was wondering whether they would be better than my current set up.
I have three guinea pigs, sunshine and rainbow who are approx 5 1/2 and marshmallow who is 3, they all get on well and live in a two storey 120x60 cm cage
However only marshmallow and sunshine will use the ramp, I've tried all sorts but rainbow just doesn't like it, plus they generally hang out in the bottom section which is plainly obvious when it comes to cleaning out as the top barely has any poop at all :p. I'm reluctant to split the cage as I don't think this is big enough, even though they tend to stick tithe one level most of the time anyways.
I've found one cage that is 100x100 which could be better plus there's others that are 140/150/160 cm long although some would need modification as they are wire ledges, I have had the double corner cage before but it was a nightmare to clean as many double cages are, maybe my arms aren't long enough!
Any thoughts please?
Ps have tried c and c in the past but with three mogs now it could be a little risky lol!

I’ve never liked the two storey cages you can buy in shops, just because i find the ramp takes up so much floor space so you don’t get all that much room!

I’d really just recommend going as big as possible though, i think a 150cm cage is recommended for two females. But if you can afford and find room for a 160 then go for that!

It’s best to have at least one level that meets the requirements as guinea pigs are not really climbing animals and do prefer just one large space to run laps than to have to climb up to different levels.

Hope that helps :)

@chocdonuty is it a website as a friend of ours is looking for a big cage.. x

Yes, it's littlepetwarehouse.co.uk, I don't know anything about them tbh, just stumbled across it, there is one for sale on preloved but too far away unfortunately. If I do get a new one then obviously mine will be up for sale too lol.

I'm thinking the square 100x100 might be more roomy for the Piggys but less roomy for me lol, I've just not seen one before so no idea how easy it is to clean ect :)

I've just had a quick browse and the price for a 120cm cage is under £50 which really means people have no excuse for tiny cages :)

I agree that the prices are really reasonable. . . However, I would not like to sacrifice quality over quantity!

I am not familiar with the 'Little Friends' range - Would anyone be able to provide me with some insight into the quality of the products?! Are the products good quality - Sturdy, as opposed to flimsy?!

That is too small for three guinea pigs. Could you make a c and c with a lid?

Tbh the oldest are on the small side, they don't look fully grown to me but I got them when they were 3 1/2 so not sure of their history, marshmallow however is of normal size. The 160cm or the square one has about the same floor space I just wasn't sure of practicality. They do get floor time too :)

It does not matter how big they are. Even with floor time they need a spacious cage. 120 is the absolute minimum for two guinea pigs.

I am trying to give them more space as yes a single 120x60 is too small for all of them. they have a double 120x 60 cage at the mo but not using all of the space so I'm looking at a single level cage bigger than 120x 60 either longways or the square one which is 100x100 (not a 100x60 )

Cage Size Requirements/ Three Guinea Pigs:

Minimum = 1 sq m/ 10.76 sq ft
Preferred = 1.2 sq m/ 12.92 sq ft

Indoor Square Cage Rabbit & Guinea Pig By Little Friends -

100cm = 40 inches = 3.3 ft
3.3 ft x 3.3 ft = 10.89 sq ft

Therefore, the 'Indoor Square Cage Rabbit & Guinea Pig By Little Friends' meets the minimum cage size requirements for three guinea pigs!

Little pet warehouse is an excellent retailer, i have one of their 120cm cages and its very strong and well made :)

I ended up sending my little friends cage back - it was a lovely size but it didn't seem very well made & the clips were impossible to close, so I don't know if I was just unlucky or if they are all like that. I have a ferplast now and can tell it is much better quality!
I got my ferplast from zooplus - good price & quick delivery :)

Well I got handy with the pliers and cable ties and fixed the double cage so that they sit together side by side making it one long cage, all my Piggys are running easily between the two and it seems a lot better option than one of top of the other, will still keep my eye on eBay for a big cage minus the middle hump lol :)

was going to suggest that. Loads of space for them.Bet they are pleased with it

That's great! I am always happy to hear of people re-using and adapting things rather than spending lots of money ;) your piggies probably love jumping over the bridge in the middle, mine do! X

They took to it really well :) it's one of those stick bridges from pah although I've seen them hop over the edges anyway! It's nice to see them too, rather than them hiding in the bottom

I've fallen for C&C cages without a lid. We had a large ferplast 140 for our two girls for about a year but found that cleaning out put straw and wood chips all over floor which then got walked into the rest of the flat. Also, when ever we wanted to feed them or enter the cage for any reason the doors were noisy and needed two hands (there are 2 clips and they automatically fall into place). So we built a C&C cage with a small loft which is about 60 cm longer and 20 cm wider and are giving fleeces a try. So far so good. They both took to the tunnel ramp (check out CandEcages) and hurl themselves up and down it. And for me, best of all, when ever I want to give them magical disappearing lettuce, there is no scary rattle of door opening. I think it makes for a much calmer interaction.

Tunnel Ramps are fantastic.
