My 2 boys are currently using an XL dog crate, the door of which is left open so they can go in and out as they please. The room they are in has not been renovated yet, so it doesn't really matter about the mess they and the rabbits make. However, renovations should begin later this year or early next and once completed I do not want it wrecked. So, boys will need to have a new cage, which obviously means they will not be freerange all the time. This time of year they are still able to go outside for most of the day but during winter they have to stay in. So, what kind of cage would be best for them? I've been looking online but most of the cages seem so small  I feel really mean not having them freerange all the time anymore but they do make ta terrible mess ........ how can such cute little piggies make so much wee and poo :yikes:

My guinea pigs live in an 8 by 3 c and c cage. This gives them plenty of room so I do not need to give exercise time. Maybe that is an option for your little ones? They are used to free ranging so they will need a large space.

I love c&c cages as you can make them as big s you want. There is a thread for then on the forum somewhere and one for commercial cages.

My husband and I are building a cage for our new piggies. I looked at the c&c cages but they are very expesive for what you really get it should cost us around $100 for a three story 4x6 each level. So if you are crafty and have a decent hardware store around keep your options open.
