Ever since we rescued our buddy we have wanted to get him a bigger cage and a friend. Now we have the new cage!

Here is a pic of the old one that we sat on top of the desk of one my kids (in our living room). Kid did not mind losing desk access, but he needs that spot to do homework! It was way too small and Bilbo would spend most of his time sitting under his water bottle. The only nice thing is that we could sit and talk with him any time...

Our now large C&C cage is now between the desks in the living room between the homework desks of my two kids. The bins are great for storing everything out of sight - nice and neat. Note: The fireplace is not in working order and sealed off!

Here is a closeup of Bilbo enjoying the new space. He loves it! Now he hangs out on his blanket and is running and popcorning all over the place.

Now we can move forward on adopting a friend for him once we find another piggy to rescue. We have a lead on another male at a rescue north of us so we are following up this week!

Thats brilliant! Well done. Where did you get the storage cubes from?
i also like your idea of homework desks in the living room. Is that so that you can monitor what they are doing? I think I might steal that idea! I send him to do his homework and two hours later I find him still playing on minecraft ;)

The storage cubes are designed for the cage stand and are also made of coroplast. I ordered it all from the site called GuinePigStoreCages.com. I think they are based in the eastern US and we had to wait a bit since we are on the west coast. I would like to switch to a hybrid of fleece and bedding - so that is the next project.

LOL - yeah the kids don't have room for the desks in their bedrooms and this seemed like a good idea. Love having them there when they are working on projects, homework or even laptops for Minecraft (which is unavoidable these days). Bilbo is right in the action but also gets plenty of quiet time. My boys are 12 and 9 and are good with Bilbo but I am the one who takes care of him. My younger son likes to help with feeding and talks to him a lot. :)

I really like how stylish the cage looks, i think C&C cages can be made to fit in with any style of decor whereas commercial cages are just ugly.

Mine kids are 9 and 3 and fight over who gets to feed/top up water etc ;)

Wonderful! I will soon be following your steps, as I get a C&C cage for Christmas. :) It looks like a great cage! I live in the eastern US, I may check out that site!
Good luck with finding Bilbo a friend. :)

What a lovely upgrade! Lucky little piggy! I love the black C&C grids!

@Goth Mummy if you are looking for storage cubes to go under a c&c cage like that, B&Q do some fabric ones which fit perfectly and come in a variety of different colours. They are , I think, fabric covering hard cardboard so are quite sturdy. We've got some under ours.

@Isaanne it looks a great set up!
