I'm thinking of getting a new cage for my two boys. They are not yet bonded and are currently living in separate cages. I know that the cages they both have are far too small for them to both live in (120cm x 60) for the rest of their lives. I would love to have a C&C cage, but I've found that grids are too expensive and I don't have the DIY skill either. Also, for the size of cage I'd like, it couldn't possibly go on a table. But we have a dog who would definitely eat the piggies if she ever got to them. If anyone has got any ideas I'd really appreciate it. I hate seeing my piggies not able to run round and play, and I'd like to get them bonded as quickly as possible. Thanks everyone :) xx

I agree, no skills required my husband made ours two days ago took him 1 hour but he was watching rugby and playing COD at the same time. He's normally banned from DIY. Although he did smack massive lines of fragile tape on the outside of the Correx instead of cello tape which looks really ugly. Going to have to figure how to make covers for the sides which I have no idea how to do! Honestly ruined the Cath Kidston look!

When I did the Correx base for my cage, I used Duck Tape. No, not the usual one. I already had it in the house, the see through one which is stronger than the usual one and four times more expensive to buy. I can't remember why I purchased it originally, but since it was in the hamster's toy box, I'm assuming I needed it for repairs on a cage at some point.

My memory is getting worse...:hmm:

If the cost if C&Cs is an issue what about a puppy pen (or similar?) we bought a ferplast 120 for our new piggies and had the puppy pen in the shed from our newest puppy! I got it out for the piggies to have playtime in and it's become their permenant home!

We have dogs too and have a series of baby gates separating doggies from piggies!

@Piggies4us how could you? You post these stunning photos of glorious cages and make me remarkably jealous. Tell me exactly how you created that beauty! I am so jealous of your piggies right now.
Must consider the best place to set that up- an indoor run...especially approaching winter...
Really though, this forum is such a bad influence on me, making me want to buy all these gorgeous things...the indoor run your piggies have as their home really is marvellous:love::love::drool::drool::drool:

On the net i found the pannels for C&C at £2.50 you could always buy one or two when you can and slowly work up to doing a simple 5x2.
You could always keep them on mats on the floor like i do i have a bolt on my piggie door so dogs cant get in but thats up to you if you have a room where you can keep the dog away like in a bedroom or there own room ( I do understand not everyone has room for a guineapiggery room XD)

Are they puppy pads on the floor? if so, where do you get them from and can you buy them in bulk? So far, I have only found them in boxes of 40 for £4.99 in Home Bargain. I use them over lino on the bottom part of the hutch.

you can by pre cut coroplast from c and c cages website, they can be bought with lids and stands, minimum size cage for 2 boys i would suggest is 4x2 c and c cage,140cm x 60 cm big cage.pet planet do 150cm x 75 cm cage for approx 80 pounds and it is fab,ive two boars in mine, and its sturdy with having a cat.world cages have a selction and zooplus of cheaper larger cages,c and c cages are good in that they are much more adaptable to add /extend.good luck.x

i get a 100 puppypads from b and m stores for 12.99,and poundstretcher sell them same price, strangely seem to be the most absorbant.x

Mine are from B&M, £12.99 for 100, very tough and good quality.

I am developing a similar problem as you, what with Ziggy's piggies and now Adelle making stuff to order!

Is there a fleece addicts anonymous group?

Wow that impressive, I want to get 2 of them or the mesh ones connecting them with a pipe. But hubby thinks it will be too small for 5 guinea pigs.

Having only ever had outdoor piggies (traditional hutch/shavings type setup) I'm very much enjoying the chance to have fleecy indoor ones!

I just need some nice bunting for around the puppy pen I think!

Hello! Would have no hesitation in suggesting a C&C cage. My two love being in it and its lots of room compared to the standard cages you buy from pets@home, which are so small, expensive for what they are and bulky. You can do any arrangement, which will fit in with you. I should point out that we don't have any other pets, so it works well having an open cage system. The cages can be bought online from the website that someone has mentioned above or go to EBAY. Work out the size you need. The Correx is available online or from local suppliers. I have just bought some 2mm (would have preferred 4mm as its more stable) from Travis Perkins for £7 +VAT (2400 x 1200) This is a bargain. Use cable ties to secure the corners of the hutch and score the correx to make the box unit. I watched You Tube videos and it is as easy to create, as they make it out to be. Cable ties and duck tape are good to use.

The C&C cage is easy to clean out. I tried the fleece option (i wasnt a fan, but others swear by it!) We use a product called Megazorb, which works so well and isnt dusty like sawdust! Its available from horse suppliers or on EBAY. It last a long time as you can pick the wet out and you dont need to make it super think. It is great at absorbing the smell and composts down very quickly. I have tried every bedding there is and this is the best for my piggies.

My two adore the C&C cage and its a brilliant alternative when its time to bring them inside (Bloody foxes has meant they are in earlier this year!)

I just went and collected it and it was even cheaper! Less than £5 for a 2400 x 1200 sheet. Comedy moment trying to get it into my small car!
