Hi everyone, I have found these forums have been amazing so far so I'm looking for a bit more help please

Hercules is about 15 months, and on Boxing Day he lost his cage friend Frankie :-(. Tonight we got him a new friend (no name yet). New boar is 9 weeks.

At the minute they are in separate cages whilst the baby settles in, with the cages right next to each other. Does anyone have any tips on how to bond them successfully? The plan at the minute is to put them in the bath tub to meet each other on neutral territory tomorrow with a plate of sharing food.

What behaviours should I watch out for? I have never lost a boar before but don't want Hercules to be lonely. What are the chances of Hercules accepting baby boar?

I have just put both boars in the bath (empty) together.
Hercules is 15 months, wilbur is 10 weeks.

Hercules is doing a purring noise and keeps spraying some smelly stuff about, and wilbur is just following him around. Hercules is circling wilbur and then humping him but wilbur is fine about this. Then Hercules keeps licking wilbur face.

From what I can gather this is normal and good, right?

I can't help big just want to say I'm keeping my finger crossed for you and your piggies!

I am also on a facebook group for guinea pigs, and so far all seems good. Everyone believes this is fine and normal behaviours. I'm just going to give them some hay to share now :-)image.webp
