Hi everyone
yesterday I went in pets at home and saw this little sad guinea pig up for adoption sat there looking fed up.
I asked why he was there and the lady said that the little man lost his companion so they no longer wanted him?
How sad I could not not resist. I have a 4 by 2ft indoor cage waiting for occupation so I brought him home.
I have 2 guinea pigs living together snoopy who is neutured and 2 years old nearly and Pixie who was a rescue I would guess is about 3 years old she is parshly blind but doing really well bless her.
My question is Barney the new piggie is not neutured.Could I bond all 3 of them if I got Barney neutured?
Or is it a no no?
I dont want him on his own !
Thanks for any help :)

Two boars cannot live with a sow. You can have two boars only or one neutered boar and any number of sows. The best option would be to take Barney boar dating at a rescue. This is were he can choose his own friend to avoid getting a piggy he does not like.

Hi! it is sad to see how many guinea pigs are treated like toys and not like living beings!

Sadly, two boars and a sow don't go well together. :(

The best way of finding Barney a stable new friend is by dating him at a good rescue that offers this service. Your closest forum recommended high standard rescue is Wheek and Squeak just outside Southampton; it is run by a very experienced lady who will bond Barney for you at the rescue, so you come home with a new friend only if their has been success and you don;t have to worry about fall-outs. http://wheekandsqueak.webs.com/

If you want to have Barney neutered first to find his own sow wife, dating at a rescue is also the way forward to make sure that he and his new lady click. Please note that I have a piggy living with me that was the surprise present from an over 5 weeks post op neutered boar, so any good rescues are now asking for a full 6 weeks post neutering op wait to be 100% sure that there won't be any accidents.
How well an op comes off depends very much on how experienced with piggy neutering the vet you are using is. Otherwise, the risk of post op complications is sadly still quite high.
