Hi everyone, I have four pigs. One cage is 2 brothers, they are about 2 months old. Other cage is 2 females, Mom and daughter. "Mom" was pregnant again and had her babies today! 5 little ones!
My question is, the 2 males, who have been getting along fine, are now snipping at each other and lots of rumbling. They are in the same room as the females and now babies. Could them hearing the new babies be causing this?

When a mum gives birth, they go into season a few hours afterwards. So it may be that her pheromones/hormones are what’s set off the boys. Is it possible to move them to complete opposite sides of the room or at least on top of the girls’ cage? The better option would be to have them in an entirely different room but I know some people can’t manage that.

Hope all went well with the birth. Do have a read of the guides in pregnancy section on feeding new mum etc.

I agree, keep your boys in a different room if you can or as far away as you possibly can from the ladies and babies
