New and looking for education about heart disease.

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and desperate for reliable information about pigs and heart disease. My 1 year old boar has just been diagnosed and I am scared and grieving. We were given 3 to 6 months. Looking for anyone who has had a heart pig and could help me learn. Thank you.

Thank you. I am in America and realize there is a time difference. I'm struggling with such sadness and shock. So many vets here don't know how to treat. I was hoping someone might show me some compassion and tell me if we are doing all we can. We just adore him. Going tonight to show him Christmas lights.

I know that with the right meds, heart pigs can have a good quality of life albeit shorter. You are doing everything you can. These things always happen at the worst possible time All the can suggest is enjoy Christmas with him and make lots of memories x

There will be a lot of sadness as you process this. You've already started the grieving process which is normal when we are given this sort of news. There is a website called Guinea Lynx that lists good guinea pig vets by state so that might be useful for you if your vets aren't very experienced with this kind of issue
