Oh dear... I only went to the pet shop to get an indoor cage for my piggie ... it was awful, there was a horde round the pens with all the cute little lop eared bunnies (being kept with piggies!) and the bigger rabbits that aren't so popular were shoved ina corner. there was one in a guineapig cage! he was bigger than our George who is a Dutch bunny, and had no room to stretch and looked totally depressed. So I opened the cage and gave him a stroke, and he stretched his head out for more.. that was it, i couldn't leave him there even tho our bunny is a boy too and they couldn't live together.

So we brought him home. When we let him out in the conservatory he didn't seem to hop very well, probably coz he'd been squashed in a piggie cage! Anyway he is outside in a nice hutch with a pen and a snugglepad, and Tiger our piggie has moved inside! We have called our new bun Marble as he is a magpie rabbit and "marbled! He has grey eyes too - he is lovely, I will take some pics tomorrow and post them.

Am taking him to the vets ASAP as even tho he is 14wks old he hasn't had his mixy jab or the other viral disease jab, also he has a scab on his back... am so angry with the pet shop.

I know I can't save every bunny but I just couldn't leave him there, he was so desparate for some affection! Little sweetheart!

Tiger didn't do so badly out of it either - my boyfriend has got him a snuggly tunnel!

aaww that's lovely, i feel so sorry for these poor bunnies in the pet shops who get 'too old' to sell. I saw a dutch boy in a pet shop yesterday advertised as free because he was older than the babies.

Like you say we can't help them all, but one day we might be able to shop so many pet shops selling so many animals. Although i have noticed that they are putting the prices of animals up now, for example i saw that rabbits are now £25 and guineas are £20. and i saw in Pets at Home today a Giant house rabbit (french lop) being sold at £149.99 I'm hoping this will make people think twice about buying pets , but we'll see eh? :-\

Good luck with your new bundle of joy ;D

aaww bless ;D the bunny word for 'popcorning' is a 'binky' lol i find it so funny when they do that. Guineas leap and bunnies flip about in the air like maniacs haha ;D

Thank you! I couldn't have left him there, I was nearly in tears!
he is a big bunny, can't believe he was in a piggie cage. :'(
He'll be getting lots of cuddles!

I took Marble to the vets tonight to get his mixy jab and also to check out a lump on his back - i was a big bite, the poor bun. I am so glad we brought him home.

You see, that's why i try not to look! Pets at home would never have any animals in if i didn't just race through and get what i needed!

Although i have to admit i had a look at the piggies on saturday. They had the most beautiful little black and ginger boar, i was quite taken with him. But Leo's not a fan of other pigs and i don't have room for another cage..... but god it was tempting!

I'm normally not bad at resisting, but there was something about this one... will try and take some pics tonight, he is stripey and looks like a little convict!

Here's our bun Marble that we "rescued" from a guineapig cage in a petshop - the only time he was still was when he was in the litter tray!

Wow, he is truly a gorgeous rabbit. You've done a wonderful job, even though you couldn't save all of them. ;D

Aw, thanks! The others were in bigger cages and didn't seem so unhappy, it was just him in a tiny cage. :( Marble is still a bit nervous but he is starting to come up to us and nudge our hands with his nose, plus he is eating like mad!
