So today looked a lot like this in our house;

DD: Mummy, Eddi is feeling a bit sad today.

Me: Really? Why is Eddi sad?

DD: Eddi is sad because soon it will be advent, and he doesn't have an advent calendar.

Me: Um, I don't think guinea pigs have advent calendars.

DD: Well they should, because Christmas is important for guinea pigs too. Plus Eddi will be sad if he doesn't have one. Eddi loves Christmas.

Me: Actually Eddi was born in January this year, so technically he doesn't know anything about Christmas because he hasn't had one yet.

DD: That's the saddest part - this is his first Christmas, and he doesn't even have an advent calendar. Look at his sad face.

Me; Well I guess we could make one.

DD: We could. Or we could go to the pet shop and see if they sell them.

Me: OK, but I don't think the pet shop sell advent calendars for guinea pigs, but we do need hay so if you want to come too you can ask about the calendar thing.

And guess what we found in the pet shop?

Hmmmm - it all seemed just a bit too convenient.
So tonight I did a check on recent search terms used on the iPad, and guess what came up?

It's official - I was outsmarted by a 9 year old and her guinea pig (who thankfully is no longer sad 'apparently').

That's so cool! what is it that's in them?

Not sure exactly - I did a quick check on the back to make sure the ingredients sounded appropriate (which they do), but there wasn't a specific list.
Plus I was trying to read it in German, without my reading glasses, with a hysterically excited 9 year old bouncing by my side.
Eddi will update once we start opening the doors.
I will update once I get over the fact that my kid did a search on 'guinea pig advent calendars' and that such a thing actually exists.

This is brilliant. I can't wait to see what Eddi discovers behind the doors!

And I am going to make sure my daughter gets no sight of this thread otherwise I know what she will be asking for.....

Aaaahhh, that's so cute, Eddi and DD are working together to overthrow your authority :))

They do one in the UK at Pets At Home, though when I went to buy one they'd sold out
So I've no idea what's in them!

Lol I love it...
I seen one in pets at home but was running late so didnt pick one up -decided that 25 can't be shared equally between my 3 girls so theyll have to do carrot tops instead :)

Love your daughters ingenuity- team work. Probably a blueberry behind every door ;)

Aww nuts! Just read the description... Its 24 doors... The girls could have shared after all :(

This is ridiculous, really. You're all ridiculous, because you didn't remind me I needed an Advent calendar for the boys! And we'll need Christmas decorations. Now, will they open it with their teeth, their paws, or will they ignore the treats inside and eat the box?
Also, Eddi was sad, see his sad eyes?
Wait. It wasn't your daughter that Googled the Advent calendars, it was Eddi! Let us know if you see searches for blueberries...

This sounds like the sort of thing my son would come up with, but as I am wise to the ways of him I probably would have sniffed it out before heading to the store. That being said.. it's EDDI! Of course he deserves a calendar !

:)) Remove her Ipad - lesson learned

The best part is she doesn't have an iPad as such - we share a family iPad (we are one of those weird families that don't really embrace technology - we don't even have a tv!).
And she knows I constantly check the searches, etc. because I am always telling them if they don't want Mummy to see, it then they shouldn't be searching for it on the Internet!
But Eddi has an advent calendar, so who cares.

I blame it on Eddi..........he has special powers..........now where did you hide those blueberries.....

Eddi and daughter combo might be quite hard to manage!

Chart is now asking for an advent calendar his hair do you
I've told him not to listen in to my Internet sessions naughty piggy
He is now out with King at me because he wants me to get one for him so he says
Sorry for any strange words in these posts I am using my iPhone's dictation
Because I'm a lazy git and can't be bothered to type
I did get an advent calendar for my pet rats ones and they were not happy with it so I've just informed Choc that he is not having one under any circumstance because you'll be disappointed with it however he is refusing to listen to this
Typical ...

Awww! He'll be very disgruntled til you buy it, then he'll sniff it, have a quick chew and ignore it. He has to keep you on your toes!

One of those weird families? Pfft. It's almost definitely healthier! Still, I may have a pretty bad lifestyle but I do some yoga and sometimes eat fruit and veg, so that's all okay:whistle:
Now, piggies eat nothing but hay and veggies, with some pellets and treats (well, my nail varnish has a toothmark in it, why, Godfrey? Don't worry, he didn't really ingest it, I imagine he just had an awful taste!) and they're almost always exercising, they often have a stress-free environment and a loving home. I do envy them.

Aww a guinea pig advent calender. I havent even got my piggies yet and they want one (each).
Actually that was her original plan - that I should buy FOUR advent calendars - one for each pig!
I told her Christmas was all about sharing and being kind to others, so if they couldn't share then they wouldn't be getting a calendar :)

That is one very clever little girl, Eddi is very lucky to have her as a slave. I'm trying to keep the advent calendars a secret from my two or they'll want them too. Spike saw a mention of pea flakes on the Forum, he insisted I found them some. Piggies are now banned from my lap when I'm on line :)).

I must remember to tell the boys when they come. Sharing. Something that they are not so hot on according to the rescue!
