I’m a New Guinea pig owner so not sure of this. Is it okay to neuter a 1 and a half year old Guinea pig and then put him with a female a few weeks after?

a neutered boar must wait six weeks before he can be bonded with a sow. Anything earlier than that and you risk pregnancy.

thank you 😊 is one and a half still a good age to get neutered?

Yes but it is going to come down to the experience and knowledge of your vet.
We have piggies on the forum who were neutered at much older than your boy

There is a list of recommended vets on the forum here Recommended Guinea Pig Vets

If your vet is experienced at neutering guinea pigs than that lowers the risk but do be aware that no surgery is 100% safe. If you do go ahead, please read the post-op care gides Tips For Post-operative Care as i found them very useful.

I have had 3 boars neutered. Two were fine and did not need any support feeding after the op. However, Milo took a little longer to get over the anaesthesia and i had to syringe feed him for a couple of days as he wasn't eating enough by himself. It is always best to be prepared for the all eventualities.
