Hi there,

I recently took on a boar (Johnny) from my OHs work mate. They didn't want him anymore because his brother died and they didn't want the kids to go thru the same again!

Anyway.... they said he was neutered, so I took him on and decided to introduce him to one group of my girls. Because I didn't want him to be a lonely piggy any longer. He's actually been in with them for 2/3 weeks now.

The point of my thread is... do neutered males still, well mate the girls? Everytime I'm in the shed he's purring and strutting around then finally mounts them? The girls seem to respond by doing a little "dance" and rubbing there behind on the floor (don't know how to explain it!)

Sorry 4 the essay, my male rabbit who's done don't mount his females so is it normal in guineas?

some piggies do continue to try and mate after neutering especially when the girlys are in season, its nothing to worry about but i would still get to a vet to double check he has had it done x

Neutered males definitely mount females after the op (my Jaffa still has plenty of 'fun'!). The op does nothing to change their behaviour, just stops any unwanted pregnancies.

However, if there is any doubt about the accuracy of the information you've been given, get him checked by a vet. It could be dangerous for your females to get pregnant if they're older, as they bones of the pelvis fuse after about a year and won't allow for delivery of the babies.

Neutered boys are still very busy, especially with new girls! Mine is with his four ladies (and more to come)!

Have you checked at your vet's that he IS neutered, though?

mine too!

My neutered male does it too! And I'm really really sure he is fixed. He purrs for both Martha and Vilda but Vilda seems to be better at telling him to f*off. Martha just complains and tries to run away. I feel sorry for her!

Your boy is just settling in - they go on testosterone overload at first. But as your girls are not in season at the time, they are telling him off!
