So! I recently got Banksy (the boar) and Ivy (sow) from a rescue. They've been cage mates for a year, and up until recently have got on like a house on fire, which is wonderful.

Last night, Banksy would -not- give Ivy peace! He chased her around the enclosure endlessly, until Ivy hid away in a one-pig pigloo (and not without rejecting his advances.) He has tried to mount her, but she's having none of it. I suspect she's went into season of sorts? He also rumbles and walks very slowly around the cage (though he's always rumbled at her.)

Is this normal enough to let them sort it out themselves, or is their a way I can help them settle? The moment she comes out of her pigloo, she's pestered! :(

I think it is okay to let it settle unless they start biting or injuring each other. But if they've been cage mates for awhile then the sow is probably used to it or had it happen before. I believe you're right and she's probably in season which is why the boar suddenly seems interested in her

Let them settle it amongst them, as long as Ivy is left alone in her pigloo. It should be over by tomorrow morning; Ivy will mate when she is ready at the end of her season. In a cross gender bonding, the first few seasons are particularly strong and dramatic, but the shared excess of pheromones and emotions also serves to cement the bonding.

You will notice in later season that despite all the vocal drama, sows coming into season will stay near a boar; the particular "I am not quite ready - yet" usually serves to put a poor boy into a frenzy.
