Hi everyone,
We got our piggies home after our holiday yesterday and there back in the garden! Everything is fine but Ginny (younger pig) is too nervous to go into the loft with her big sister and keeps squeaking for her company all though she’s just up the ramp. I’m a bit worried if she doesn’t get her confidence back up for tonight and sleeps on the grass (and she may get a bit cold) I have tried to help her (I tried to pick her up, put lettuce on the ramp) but she’s still not going has anybody got any ideas how to get her up or am I just worrying over nothing?
Thanks x

Hi,

I’m sure someone more experienced will be along soon.

Piggies often don’t take kindly to ramps. It’s not overly natural to them

Definitely don’t leave her in the run on the grass overnight as it isn’t predator secure. Temperature are also lowering over night

Honestly that ramp looks very steep, and if she has been staying somewhere in a different set up she may now not be confident enough to use it.

Would it be possible to bring them inside in a temporary set up and possibly reconsider their outdoor accommodation.
The hutch with attached run actually offers them very little safe space, and the area they do have is far too small for even a single guinea pig.
They should certainly not be left on the lawn area overnight.

If they do have to live outside them could you possibly consider a hutch from Chartwell for the cooler months, which would offer them much more space and a far safer environment all on one level.
