Hi, after a few days of consideration I decided to post a thread about my youngest boar. I have three little boys all living together, and they've been doing incredibly well so far, they've probably been together for three weeks or so. Its not an ideal situation, but one i simply couldn't avoid. The youngest is about nine weeks old, the middle is around eleven weeks, and the oldest is a boar of five years. The eleven week piggy has been with us for maybe a week longer than the nine week, who is my current subject of interest. The other piglet has settled in brilliantly, he'll fall asleep on me and cuddle up on my hand, and my five year old boar is also very friendly, spends most of his time licking my fingers or nudging me for treats. I can tell the two young piggies have settled because they're always running around and popcorning all over their cage, however, the youngest is not at all fond of human interaction it seems. Everytime I go to their house he'll run inside, whether I'm laden with treats or not, and he's a to catch. When I do have him sat with me, he'll spend the majority of the visit squeaking to be taken back, and the rest of it sitting incredibly still on my shoulder. He'll eat from my hand but only hesitantly, though he loves a run round, and seems to be a keen adventurer! I'm beginning to think that it may just be his personality, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar with their piggies, and if there's some method of bringing him out of his shell a little so to speak?

Oh yes, he does sound more timid, just lots of time, food bribery and patience required. We have tamed a really scared piggy before. Slowly build up laptime but do it really slowly and short times to begin with, we started off at 1 minute and built up. As for catching this may be stressing him out so maybe try the technique below

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately I don't have a cuddle cup or a tube at the moment; we had two tubes, but one was quickly destroyed due to it being a cardboard tube in an outdoors run, and the other is far too small in diameter for me to trust. However, I shall invest in one the next time I go to the store, which should be some time this week. Thanks for the advice again; and for the video, I have a piggy with me now and he loved it for some reason, kept reaching up for my phone, must have taken a fancy to the voice!

No problem, he must have saw my two girls in the Video :))

Unfortunately Cookie the white piggy passed away before Christmas she was very used to the chube technique :) She was such a sweetheart.

Worth keeping a chube just for picking up as if you leave it in they do like to nom it!

Ah, that could have been it, he always is a bit of a Romeo!

And yes, such a shame its always horrid to see them go, but at least its nice to know that they had a good life, and they'll always be remembered.

I for one love seeing piggies getting into routine; I like to think it shows they really do enjoy spending time with us- some of them, anyway! Thanks again :3

Have you got a cardboard box or a hut that you can turn upside down?

We have two wooden box sort of things, but they're missing two sides; I suppose I could turn it upside down and cover one side, maybe that would work? Thanks for the link, I'll have a good read c:
