I want my pig to live in a shed but I need facts to prove to my parents and some pictures that I can use! I want everyone who posts to say "I want the guinea pig to live in a shed!" so that when I show this to my parents they will be like WOAH! please tell me all the great benefits of a shed and how its alot better than a hutch >.o

Ok here we go:
1- More room to run and popcorn (which piggies LOVE)
2- Less expensive than buying a big hutch.
3. You can easily attach a run to a shed giving even more room!
4- Easier to interact with your piggies as you don't have to reach into a hutch to catch them.

I definatly want the guinea pig to live in a shed!

1. It's easier to keep dry when you clean them in the rain.
2. You can shut the door behind you and the bedding wont blow all over the garden when it's windy. ;)

Run electricity into it like me and you can have light and heat in it, a major escape hole to avoid relatives you can't stand. ;)

When really just compare the dimensions, go on any Hutch website and show the dimensions, usually around 2x4 give or take a few inches now compare that to most sheds 6x4! :p

I would love a shed.

I just do not have the space though!

Mine's a 8x6, once I get it organised the way I want it, the gang will have 6x5 to play in if the weather is bad. ;)

Space:

Mine's a larger shed because of the number of piggies in there - but I find it so, so, so much easier. Cleaning it takes about 20 minutes (I spent triple that when I had 9 in hutches - there's 16 in my shed!). Being able to go and sit with my piggies whatever the weather is great. It's also great to see the piggies with more space to explore and be themselves - it's fab. You don't get to see it if they're in hutches but with a shed you could stand/sit and watch them all day!

Eventually I want another shed for my two hutch pairs... and maybe some more ;). They're fantastic.

Sheds are safer and more secure than hutches to keep out foxes.

Sheds last longer and require less looking after than hutches.

Sheds are easier to heat and insulate.

That is a fab setup! :)

Sheds are the best!

At first, my two piggies lived in an average hutch with run attached. this is what it looked like

Some problems I faced were;

I couldn’t sit and watch them if it rains

When the rainproof cover was on, ventilation was bad

It was harder to interact with them

After that, me and my dad converted the old Wendy house into a guinea pig shed!

This is how it looks now but it was smaller when i first made it (many internal extensions have been made to accommodate more pigs!:<>

Here is a YouTube video from my channel on how I did it;

You can check out the other videos on my channel for more updates with the cage! :))

From my experience, keeping guinea pigs in a shed is the best, most efficient, most convenient, kindest way to house your guinea pigs outdoors :laluot_29:
