Hi Guys. I have two boys Batman and Robin. In the beginning they were full of energy but lately they have started getting too lazy. They just want to eat and sleep. Took them to the vet and she confirmed that they are indeed very healthy and there is absolutely nothing to worry about. She suggested that i buy a bigger cage with some interesting toys. Right now i have few hiding tunnels, ping pong balls and a tiny staircase. Can you guys suggest some good toys to keep them engaged and active?

Size of the new cage I have ordered :
  • Interior: 27" x 84.5" = about 16 Square Feet of cage space
  • Exterior: 30" x 90" when assembled

My 2 boys are lazy as well lol but I find they seem to like long tunnels to run through.

Piggies do slow down as they get older, I don't think it would be anything to worry about. Our older girls lie around eating hay all day :)

That is a wonderful sized cage so they will get plenty on space to move around in it. Try not to over think and worry. Your piggies are very lucky to have such a caring owner.

You could also try stuffing the cardboard tubes (from toilet roll) with hay as a toy.

i love my boys more than anything else in the world. And thanks for your kind word, will have that in mind :)

I can tell that by your concerned thread. Keep doing what you are doing with piggies, I think they must be very happy with you.

My girls are fairly lazy, they have their active times (dusk and dawn) but between then a little bit of readigrass hidden inside a sealed box (no tape) or a herb forage mixed into hay trays etc can help increase activity.

Or going to the fridge of course, watch them run around like loonies at the thought of getting veggies :))

My piggies enjoy a circuit...so a series of tunnels lined up, maybe going round in a circle or a curve, and they can run laps through them. They also like to have a ledge or something to jump up on and look out.

How old are your boys? Our girls have just turned 1 and have definitely calmed down from when they were crazy babies. They still have busy times but also spend a lot of time sleeping, resting or eating hay. I would also recommend stuffing hay into cardboard tubes or paper bags (cut the handles). Ours love those kind of toys.

The cage you are getting looks amazing, lucky pigs!

What a great cage.

My girls like to explore anything new that comes into their cage. I rotate toys every cluple og days and s!ightly change the layout every couple of cleanouts.

They enjoy hay stuffed in a wicker tunnel (from zoop!us). They also like corriander and cucumber which i hide round the cage for them to find.

Another thing that will get them moving for a bit is putting them into their playpen with fresh hay and different toys to those in their cage.

I have a 2x5 c and c cage it is amazing and they love it they love having their hideous lined up so that they can run up and down their cage x

I have 2 male pigs as well and they are quite lazy. They mainly sleep, sunbathe and eat. My girl pigs like any toys that they can move or throw a around. Great sized cage!

I buy toys for my piggies but they don't seem interested...except for tunnels, which they love running through and sleeping in. There is a ledge in the cage that they like to jump up on and I have another food bowl up there. One piggy likes a wicker chew toy. I've seen a staircase on Zooplus but I thought it might be too small for them.

I have a rescue boar who is by himself at the moment, he'll be 6 weeks post op on Monday. He's 7 months old and has morning zoomies in the cage but he gets exercise during the day too when I hold up one of the sows to his cage...he rattles, swaggers, leaps and runs around!
