Okay! Over the past few days I've been here you guys have helped so much. Thus, I call on your guinea pig super powers to help me again.

I was planning on getting these Midwest Guinea pig Habitats that state they have 8 square feet of 'play room' available. I loved the idea- it seemed like what I was looking for. And, it'd be easy to clean.

However, after building this temporary solution with the C&C materials. I'm now confused on what I want.

See, on one side I need the midwest cages because of the babies about to be born, they can (and most likely will) get out of the C&C cubes. So I need to Midwest cage to keep them in.

I also need the midwest cage because I don't have enough material to build another 4 by 2 CC cage.

I don't know where in the blazes I will get Coroplast or plastic sheets... Maybe the tractor shop here... Hmm.

HOWEVER...

The pros of a CC Cage is I can build onto them, make them bigger and more comfy for the piggies.

I can use the money I was going to use for the Midwest cage to get materials for the CC cages.(INCLUDING coroplast for a fancy lining :D ))

I may not have enough room for another 4x2 BUT i can make it a 3x2 and turn it around and make another identical to that and they'd fit side by side and be happy. Also adding a second story.

The lining would be high enough so the babies couldn't get out.

Which one do you think is better (make the guinea pigs happy).

personally i would go c&c every time, when i had a baby i just put some small chicken wire over my grids as he used to try and escape allllllll the time!

Fire away with questions, as you have said before you dont know these things, we would rather you asked than guessed and got it wrong.

Look how far you have come in a week!

:))

Haha thank you.

Well I do have another question: is there any alternative to Coroplast? I tried to practice score a piece of glass and nearly cutt myself XD Is there something just as durable , but maybe easier to cutt oxo

over here in the uk i use lino(vinyl flooring) not correx :)

also when i had small piggies i just covered the bottom few holes with pieces of wood so they couldnt get out. or cardboard works to :)

i think most things (but not glass :{) would be ok as long as they are suitable, it all comes down to if pee leaks out etc lol

Coroplast is a lot easier to score than glass. Since you're in the US, you could find your coro here. They have branches all over US. I always get a 4x8 ft sheet for $10.

Do you have any Bed Bath and Beyond, Walmart, Kmart, Costco near you? You can also buy the grids online. Walmart is having a sales right now ($16.20). I think there are 16 grids in the pack.

You can also buy from amazon.

C&C can be babyproof. You can either overlap the grids, or find some crdboard or more coro to put between the coroplast base and the grids. 10 inches is high enough to block them from getting out or getting their heads stuck.

You can find more materials from here:

Edit to add:
If your cage will be on the floor, you could line the floor with shower curtain, plastic tarp, or vinyl flooring. Basically anything that's waterproof will work for the cage floor.
