Hi everyone. I have four rather small guinea pigs and a large hutch and and a separate run. The problem is I put them in the run for four hours a day but there is hardly any grass left for them in my garden. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to keep my grass and keep the guinea pigs outside eating the grass?

We used to move the run around the grass each time we put it out. I think you can also get a quick growing grass which might help! Or plant grass in trays (we have done that!) so you can put trays out when the grass isn't growing.

Hope this helps!

Ive got barley grass growing out in the garden in trays for my piggies, it grows really quick! Well worth getting some and apparantley piggies go crazy for it! :))

Same problem here since we only have enough grass to move the run once a day for a week. If the grass hasn't grown back then I put them in the run on the patio instead and pick some weeds and give them to them instead.

It's amazing how much they can eat, two of my guinea pigs eat more grass than two of my rabbits! And the rabbits will stop eating when the grass gets low, but guinea pigs eat right down to the roots rolleyes

I have 14 guineas at the moment (12 are mine, 2 are fosters) and we have had a fabulously lazy spring so far because we have not had to cut the grass! We just move the run about and the grass hoovers do it for us!
