My daughter gave our piggie Phenieas a bath today and seen this on his backside. I think it’s his grease gland but we can’t understand why it is orange.. can anyone give me some advice please and Thankyou.

That does appear to be his grease gland. They can sometimes be a little bare so you see the skin underneath. Have a look at the guide I’ve linked to below for more info on body quirks.

Guinea pig body quirks - What is normal and what not?

May I ask why said piggy was being bathed? Was he a bit grubby? And the bathing was supervised?

He was giving a bath because it has been a good while since he’s had one. He was getting a little stinky. And Thankyou for your feedback it’s really appreciated 💕

If he’s stinky you can just do a bum bath rather than full. Was he smelling of urine or something else? Remember they do scent mark 😁

Hello. I’ve just cleaned my boars grease gland and it was a bit orange too. As long as it’s not red or swollen it’s fine.

One of my boars has a ‘busy’ grease gland - I tend to clean it with a tiny blob of coconut oil on a soft cloth - that removes anything and means you don’t need to bath him every time and it’s gentle
