So to make a long story short I wasnt shaking the poops and hay properly and its in our pipes.:...:...
I'm not allowed to use the washing machine for fleece any more.....
Winter is right around the corner, I cant use any drains in the house.
I was wondering for those of you who use vacuums to clean your fleece, how well does it clean and get rid of the waste, does it start to stink? And if it does, where do you store it. I'm thinking if I can get a little handheld vacuum and make sure alll the poops and hay are gone maybe just maybe I can use the washing machine again.

I had the same problem and now I wash everything in a duvet cover. Just try that and you will be fine.

I just use a dustpan and too. Takes a while to get all the hay off, but does a good job. Then you could put it inside an old duvet cover in the washing machine. This should stop any loose strands of hay or hair getting into the machine itself.

hiya i use a vacuum just for the part of the cage i can.t reach. I find a dustpan and brush better for the bit i can reach. I don.t have hay on my fleece as that's in the upper part of my cage in the hayloft. I haven.t noticed my vacuum smelling but i do empty it into the compost bin after use for pig cleaning. Maybe your answer is to get a second vacuum for christmas? That way you will be motivated to clean the pipes out properly after using it.

Yep! wash inside an old duvet cover - works for me!

I clogged our vacuum cleaner with hay (twice :))) - it takes ages to unclog the whole tube! So I'd probably avoid using one where possible!

As others have said a dustpan and brush work best, then a duvet cover :)

Alright! Thank you everyone! Today or tomorrow I'll be off to get one:))
I told my dad about it and he seemed a bit iffy and I explained it to him and he still seems iffy but he's willing :)) And my mom thinks its a fantastic idea x

I wash everything in a duvet cover. Tie the top so everything stays inside then when its done turn it inside out and shake. Make sure you do that bit in the garden.

Trouble with washing in a duvet cover is you've then got a duvet cover to get dry. I've tried the fleece and it's just too much hassle.

Give me newspaper and hay any day :)

another one who uses the horse washing bag - and regards drying, it drys just as quickly as the fleece which is just hours

Yes I use the wash bag too (well I do now after slightly clogging our washing machine, though with us it was the piggie's hair as much as the hay!) My husband is in charge of the bedding, he takes it outside and gives it a good whack or twenty to get the bits off before it goes in the wash.

We use a laundry sack to stop this happening with the vet bed.

You can hover it as well if you like, but it stills needs to be washed. Best to use soft brushes on it for the poo, like these.

Get rid of as much of the hair/hay as possible with a hoover and then stick the fleece in a old duvet cover and that will stop the hairs getting into your machine :)

I use the horse hair filter bag, before there was hair all over the machine now its fine never find any stray hairs but then I do shake the fleeces outdoors and whack them against the garage wall well!

I've only got Artie indoors on fleece the outdoor guineas are on newspaper and hay, if I had my own place/more space they would be indoors but can't do anything about that.

Those horse hair bags are amazing and dry quickly. Was a best buy that.
