Hello! I'm new to this forum. :) I'm writing a paper to show to my friend's mom. See, my friend has ONE guinea pig kept in a small cage. I'm going to give her mom all the facts so she'll see why we're asking for her to consider getting another guinea pig and a bigger cage. I've already wrote out the reasons for her to get another guinea pig with help from some of the pinned threads on this forum, but I haven't found enough evidence to prove why she needs to get a bigger cage. Any help? Links and personal explanations would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is the link to the doc if you want to give your input: Guinea Pigs

Welcome to the Forum.
:wel:
And what a fabulous paper.
You are doing a wonderful thing by trying to convince your friend's mum in a calm and adult way to get her guinea pig a friend and a bigger cage.

The best article I have read on why guinea pigs need such a big cage is here:
Why So Big? - C&C Cages for Guinea Pigs

I hope that helps, and good luck.

The link helped a lot! Thank you.
One last question. Do you guys know of a cage that fits the minimum that's sold in pet stores? I see a ton online, but I'm assuming her mom won't want to order one. I only have good knowledge on hamsters and I know that they have no good cages in pet stores, so I don't know if guinea pigs have the same problem.

to be honest the ferplast 120 is the cheapest one I have seen and it's £45 online, however pets at home do sell it at around double the price

Alright, I'm pretty much done getting the research! Feel free to look on the Doc and leave comments if you think something could be worded better. :) My friend looked at it and said that the cage I'll link below would be best for her budget. I calculated the floor space and got about 7.8 square feet. Do you think it looks good?

Well done to both you and your friend.
The Midwest is a really popular cage, and that size is wonderful for a pair of piggies.

Just want to say that I personally have my two in a double Midwest - two Midwest cages joined together. They're really easy to put up, and I'm glad I bought them.

That may not be useful, I don't know, but if they don't think it'll be too complicated, it might help?

What a nice friend you are! It looks like you've done a great job, I hope everything goes well, keep us updated!

She asked her mom last night, and she said no. I'm hoping she might be able to persuade her mom to say yes as her birthday is tomorrow. I'm thinking of asking my mom if we can get the cage for her birthday because she got my hamster's cage for mine.

I think the only think you should maybe mention is that lone piggies can get very depressed & stop eating which could lead to disastrous result. This is why owners on here will get another piggy fairly quickly so that the one left doesn't grieve.
This really is the most fantastic document I've ever read. I don't know how old you are but you are very clever

I'm only 14 years old, but I'm in Honors English and find it easier to write nonfiction articles rather than fiction. :D I'm actually shocked that my friend's mom said no. I've written these types of articles in the past to get things for my pets and my parents usually agree to it the same day.
