One of our guinny pigs died last week, he stopped eating and drinking and got really thin, we are not sure why. since then our other guinny pig has been acting really strange as if he is confused or maybe blind. he can see, definatly but is relying on his hearing a lot. he is walking into things and falling off things and falling on to his side. still eating and drinking well though, any ideas?

I would get him to a piggy friendly vet a.s.a.p.My little Rainbow behaved like that and the vet didn"t know for sure if he had had a stroke or not.He got so bad I made the awful decision to have him p.t.s.Let us know how you get on.

thanks for that, it does sound like it could be a stroke, i will keep you posted on how he gets on. Do you know if the pdsa treat guinny pigs?

Not sure if the pdsa treat tehm or not but even if they do, they wont be well trained in exotic pets. You really need a rodentologist. Many guineas have died from inexperienced vets giving wrong diagnois or meds :(

Hi and welcome from us :)
I'm so so sorry about your guinea :'( :'( :'( RIP little one 0:)
Yes i agree with everyone you need to book in now for an appointment to see a guinea specialist O0
This little one of yours is in need of treatment a.s.a.p.
Wishing you all the very best, please let us know how you go, best of luck for your gp :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

hi i think the pdsa do treat guinea pigs, the vets there seem to be fairly knowlegable..well on their website they do anyway..

It could be a stroke.Piggies that have had a CVA normally have head tilt. You need to get the piggy to a vet asap because this is def.neurological.
