ive orders a 4ftx8ft sheet of coroplast to build a cage. i am adopting 3 piggies tuesday and my problem is i cant decide hoe to build it since i have to put a cage divider in it. they are all siblings two males and one female. how should i build it? how much room for the boys and how much for her they are all 4 weeks old. the woman doesnt want them. so if any suggestions please help i do have panels to divide.also I'm making a coroplast only cage so i need higher sides of at least 10in-12in.

You could try looking at cages people have made on this link to get some ideas http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=53210

I'm building a cage soon for my two boars and my sow (which I will be finding a friend for), so I understand your dilemma. I'm using grids and correx because it would be safer for my piggies, and you can always expand to an extra level. Good luck with your cage ;)

See this link for recommended sizes.

27 x 41 inches cage for one pig, 27 x 56 inches for two pigs.
Can you get another sheet of coroplast?

Is there a reason you don't want to use grids? They are fairly cheap if you have Sears near you. They're on sale for $17.59.

yes i have used them before when i had a 2x4 and found it a pain to clean with the grids and they arent all that sturdy there are quite a few people who dont use them and i love their cages i do have grids so i can use them as a divider and i use them to hold up levels but thats it. and right now I'm broke lol but as soon as i can yes i will be getting more coroplast i was only planning on two guinea pigs of the same sex but when i saw her beautiful baby girl guinea i decided i would take them all. if i dont she could very well become snake food! I'm getting the last three she has and it was a last minute dicission.

i have seen do many people talk about appropriate cage sizes...well at least they are putting their animals in better cages than petstores. there are alot of people who have cages not much bigger than a litterbox! i know i would have to make my cage smaller than recommended but only temporarily i was planning on a 2x6 for 2 guinea pigs not for 3 and needing to seperate so i will get new cages set up and they are very young and little right now so its not so small to them especially compared to the cages they are in.

Its not a good idea to keep your two boars side by side with a sow, once they reach hormones an sexual maturity they are likely to fight if they think or smell a female close by you should keep them in seperate rooms preferably, maybe get another sow for your female so shes not alone and have 2 pairs.

i know keeping the three close to each other is a bad idea as stated before its only a very temporary setup maybe two weeks at most. right now they are all 3 in a petstore cage together I'm going to make a huge cage with divider and buy another sheet of coroplast but it as to be ordered so takes time to get here then be scored and set up for her. so the boys will get the 2x6 cage and she will get a 2x4 after i get another sheet to build her cage if i had known id have 3 when i ordered the corroplast i would have bought another :{

At 3 weeks old, the boys can get females pregnant. Since your babies are already 4 weeks, please separate them immediately. Put the girl in a laundry basket if you have to. It's better than leaving her in there to get pregnant.

can you request that the lady who has them can keep them seperate until you get them tuesday? I know if she wont there is nothing you can do.. and you're already doing what you can taking them from her.. we're not trying to beat on you about it..

But if you lose her through the birth you will feel so terrible for her. This is the best advice that we can give is all..

good luck with the little'uns! and Photos when you get them pleeeeeease :<>
