how many piggies even pushing it could fit in a cage 94cm by 54cm note puttin second floor in which is nearly the same measurements

okay for i am looking into cages and wanted to know i was thinking if i got that cage made it two story and always made it go out more like make an extension out to make it wider

i need to make it suitable for three piggies, what if i bought two of them both double story

I am not getting into discussing putting three pigs together - you have already had very good advice from several very experienced members of the forum to say that males should be kept in pairs and as you already have 4 males it should not be an issue.

it doesnt matter if they are 3 story as you only use the bottom level measurements as the top level isn't all useable area due to the ramp space.

How doesn't that space count? The ramp at most would take up 10cm from the width of the cage, leaving a 100cm by 50cm upper level which is a greater increase in the current space, leaving a whole level to each guinea pig at any one time. It would be no different to have two different cages of the same size, each with one pig in it.

The other two male guinea pigs that I was looking after are now being taken care of by my mother, so I don't have to worry about them anymore. She has set up a new cage for them today and they have plenty of room to run around in, and are happy to have the extra room.

because its about squared floor space so taking out the hole the ramp makes would make it about a foot shorter.

also not all piggies use ramps/both levels so if you have 3 piggies on one level then its not big enough.

The ramp space is irrelevant as the ramps will be able to open and close, making each level separate, the ramps can then be placed down to open up each level for when they play together, which gives the pigs time to explore the extra space together, and also have their own room when the levels are closed off.

I put in a temporary second level the other day and they loved going up and down the ramps, they would take food from down the bottom, up to the top to eat there so I don't really have to worry about that.

I'm just asking for any advice on how to improve on the current situation because I'm not going to be able to buy a new cage as I only just got this new cage the other day and it is too expensive to just put away and let go to waste. I've seen smaller cages at pet shops with 4x the amount of guinea pigs I have and they all seemed happy.

[Edit]: The ramp would only take up, at most, 10cm by 10cm, it wouldn't be a complete 10cm x 100cm hole

we had a ramp in our c&c cage, but one of our wouldnt go up it, we thought again, and took it out altogether, guinea pigs, in my opinion are not really climbers, and we were worried they might fall off it half way up and injure them selves so you might want to think again about a ramp x

Yeah, I understand the worry about them, but the ramp will be covered with material so they will easily be able to grip on to it, and the angle will be easy to climb up anyway, and as I said before, they did love to climb up it so that's not much of a worry as they spent more time up and down the ramp then they did in their houses. Not to mention they love to climb up the side of the cage.

Am I right in understanding that you want one pig to live on each level, then release the ramp so they can play?

This is a recipe for disaster. Boars are territorial little things, and if you do this, they will just fight, as one will be going into the others territory. If they're going to be a bonded pair, you need to allow them to both have access to all areas of the cage, at all times.

Guinea pigs don't climb bars...

No, I am just explaining that this is what could be possibly done with the ramps, in the way that they won't be taking up as much space as everyone thinks. They will be spending the same time together, and will most probably be in the same sleeping areas together as they never leave each others sides. Where one goes, the other follows (cute). The extra level just provides even more room for them to run around in, and I know that they will use it as they can't get enough of climbing up and down the ramps.

I also have a pen that I made to place on the lawn when the weather is cooler so they can run around outside, eat grass, etc so they can always get that extra bit of exercise and stretching in.

Hi,

That cage unfortunately is too small for guinea pigs and as they are kept in a minimum of two you will need a cage of 120cm for two or bigger.

Here is a link to some great cages:))

do you know this is the first time i have read this thread after all my comments on the other thread and whilst reading it did coss my mind too that they may be hamsters x

When I say they climb up the sides of the cage I mean that they put their front feet up on the sides of the cages, they don't actually climb up the cage. They definitely aren't hamsters, because, as far as I know, it's hard (if not impossible) to get hamsters in Australia.

They just love to climb around on top of their houses and be up in high places. They're very adventurous.
