Hi all.My nearly 7 year old sow fuzz went off her food nearly 3 weeks ago but not completely, she just wasn't as interested when it started and was taking longer to eat things,I started topping up with syringe feed.About a few days after this started she was making weird mouth movements when eating and throwing her veg around while trying to eat it.I got her an appointment with Simon about a week after this all started and he said she'd perhaps felt a bit poorly and that from not eating her teeth had overgrown so she had a dental and he said she had an ulcer in her mouth from a spur. She was prescribed 0.25ml of metacam twice a day.He said hopefully she'd start eating again in a couple of days and made an appointment to see her again on the 28th.A week after she still wasn't eating and dropping weight despite syringe feeding so I got her in to see Kim.I told her for the past few days I'd upped her metacam dose to 0.4ml as she seemed in pain.Kim said that's a high dose for her weight but after examination she said fuzz is in pain in her spine and legs etc plus her mouth. She had another dental but Kim said her mouth was bleeding on one side so I had to leave her there while Kim let her mouth rest and then carried on.Shes also got oral thrush now.She was prescribed intrafungal and 0.1ml of tramadol to go with her metacam. She still hasn't improved and has tried to eat a tiny bit of hay or cucumber but gives up.I did mention to Kim that about a few days after she'd initially stopped eating that I found her on my floor one morning so I think she'd somehow fell out the hay loft which I think would explain why she's in pain in her spine area etc.I forgot to me tion it to Simon and it wasn't the initial cause of her going off her food.I just need some advice on what I should do.Shes booked in for a check up on the 28th with Kim but should I get her seen sooner as she seems in pain despite the painkillers twice a day and I don't know how to get her eating again.I'm just feeling very stressed. My mum's been brilliant syringe feeding her when I'm at work.Ill attach a video of the noise she's making quite often. It wakes me up in the night.

If she is still not eating and seems in pain then I would contact the vets before her booked appointment.

Do Simon and Kim know she is making that noise? It seems to coincide with her breathing so I would have that checked sooner rather than later.

They haven't heard it but I did mention she was making a weird noise as if she was in pain.

I've tried to send an email but my phone keeps saying there's an unexpected error when I try and attach the video.I think I'm just gonna ring at 8 o'clock on Monday morning.

All the best.

Sorry to hear that Fuzz is poorly and not eating properly, I hope you can find out what's up soon. I'm no expert, but her breathing does look a bit laboured when the video zooms out. Our oldies do like to worry us ! x

So sorry to hear she’s unwell. I hope your able to keep her comfy and that she improves over the weekend. Are there any vets open on the weekend / out of hours near you, you could go to if needed? Xx

I've got a vets 4 pets near me but I've had such bad experiences there over the years including when I had a guinea pig before with a uri xx

I’m so sorry to read poor little Fuzz is so poorly. it does look like it’s related to her breathing. I hope you can get an early appointment for her at the C&R, sending loads of healing vibes and hugs to you

Well I got an appointment today with Kim and a lot was said about why fuzz might not be eating but it's really all a guessing game. She had another dental today but Kim said there's only so much she can do in regards to her not eating hay etc.She asked if I'd thought about PTS and her quality of life and I said I had if she really didn't get any better and I was crying.I haven't been able to stop the tears.Kim did prescribe some additional gabapentin on top of her metacam and tramadol.

That's such a shame. Vets 4 Pets seem to be a bit hit and miss. I'm very fortunate that the two I have had my piggies registered at have been excellent (with the exception of a couple of vets who really weren't piggie savvy)
