Need Advice Urgently

I was wondering how many of my five guinea pigs I should keep? Two or three? I cannot handle all five and the decided ones are going to a sanctuary TOMORROW morning. I really love three in particular. I have enough housing to keep five but not the time as five can get overwhelming. I love my piggies. I should mention i have four girls and one boy, the boy is leaving tomorrow as i feel it is best for him to have contact with other guinea pigs. He is not housed with the girls. Please, any advice would be much appreciated.

Keep as many as you'd like i guess ?
Girls can be kept in any number of size groups aslong as they all accept each other.
 
Aww, I am sorry that you are having to re home.

I don't mean to judge but is having five any different than having three? I went up to four pigs from two and if anything, I find it easier as they all have each other to play and interact with.

You say that the boy is a lone piggy? Does that mean that you have four girls living together? If so, It would be awful if you took one away from the group and kept three. It would be far kinder if you could split them in to two groups and keep two and re home two so at least one won't be going by herself?

I do believe they would be split up at the rescue though. I do see where you are coming from. The girlI was thinking of giing away is not tame though. Also, if i were too keep two, i really dont know who i would send away.....

It is such a hard decision to make :( When taking piggies to a rescue, you can request that your pigs stay and are re homed together as a pair.

At the end of the day, only you can make the decision who to keep and not to keep as you know your piggies the best.

If you take the boy to the rescue centre, please ask them to try and pair him with another and not let him go to a home where he will be kept by himself. Most rescues should already know this though.

It is a sad position to have to be in :(
 
I have just had my boy castrated today, very relieved it is all over, he can now live with the girls eventually hated him on his own..:)
