after reading the "sow behaviour" sticky, i have a question...o.k this is going to be a long one so oppologies in advance!
i got my two sows about six weeks ago as they had been neglected i think survival was the only thing on their minds, once they settled down they had a bit of a fight edward who is 6months was humping bella (a year old) they where nipping weeing in each others faces the works, the only thing that didn't happen was drawn blood. the cage they came in was two small so i when't out and got the biggest indoor cage i could find 4ft-3ft and eventually they got over it. i have also given them a den each as edward was spending alot of time in the hay heap. now edward is in a den and bella has her head in the opening as if she is cornering him/her sometimes she lays outside so edward can't get out, today i keep hearing one of them squeek and when i investgate i think it's edward squeeking and stuck in the den and i think bella is nipping him. i'm getting a little worried as i don't want bella to be a bully. i have just got a 5ft outdoor hutch i'm just waiting for my husband to build it mallethead (he has promised tomorrow). they seem fine in the 8ft run.
the problem is i don't have enough room to provide "next door" occomodation and i simply couldn't choose between them if i had to have one re-homed. would introducing a neuterd bore help? is my hutch big enough for 3 piggies? they never snuggle up and it does seem that one will always want what the other one has got...(a bit of cucumber even though there is two pieces!, the snuggie, you name it, they are like children that are never going to grow up!).
