I buy my hay from Natures Own and it is always very good, so i ordered a bag of this to try. My piggies all seem to love it but i have no real idea if this is suitable to replace nuggets entirely.

Guinea Pig Feed - Nature's Own Pets

Nutritional content:
Dried grass, Hay residuals, Peas, Maize, Oatfeed, Wheat, Barley, Oats, Alfalfa, Wheatfeed, Dehulled soya bean, Glucose, Carrot, Unmolassed beet pulp (2% total vegetables), Straw, Marigolds, Dicalcium phosphate, Mint, Rape oil, Nettle (0.6% total herbs), Mannan oligosaccharides (0.03%), Blackcurrant, Kale, Spinach, Beetroot, Rosemary, Rosehip, Pomegranate.

Has anyone else tried it, or have any comments on the ingredients?

To be honest I would use it very sparingly, and only as an occasional treat.
It has a lot of sweet and high fat ingredients, which are unnecessary in a healthy guinea pig diet.
Guinea pigs do not need things like peas, maize, outs, glucose and beet pulp, but I am not surprised they like it! I bet it tastes delicious (to a guinea pig obviously).

Looking at it in the bag it appears to be mainly hay/dried grass. It is a pity that the ingredients aren't all given by percentage to give a better idea of the nutritional content.

I started ordering their hay a few months ago and it’s gone down well with the piggies. I saw the ‘food’ on line but figured it was more of a treat, so have not ordered any. Would be good to see what they come back to you with. Thanks

I've used it a few times, the pigs seem to like it, although ive not really used it as an actual food, more a forage spread over their hay maybe once a week or so. Although pea meal, beet pulp and possibly maize etc are in quite a few brands of nuggets if I remember right, especially pea meal (I think thats in the grainless science selective) which I have to avoid giving too much of any that contain that to Bramble as she is intolerant to pea products, so finding ones without has been fun!

I agree with @Swissgreys and yes it would be useful to have the percentages. Perhaps you could contact Natures Menu to ask them?
Natures Own sent a reply to my email including the nutritional breakdown for the food (attached). I'm afraid that from looking at this i am none the wiser as to if this is a good/bad food for my piggies.

I would be grateful if anyone who understands this nutritional breakdown can comment.

I have no idea but I’ll tag @Flutterby as I’m sure she’ll know more lol

I must say most of it on there is lost on me, but it does have a fantastic fibre content, though a little low on protein. I'd be tempted to ask them if they could break down each ingredient into a percentage instead.

I have sent Natures Own another message asking for a percentage breakdown and will post any reply on here.
