Ok I’ll admit it, I hate doing nails. I do them because I have to but i still hate it.

Has anyone used a dremel to file them instead? I’ve seen one advertised for rabbits and hamsters.

I want to keep on top of the girls nails. Biscuits are shot but were before I got her, but the little ones I want to keep neat and tidy.

Have you considered putting something inside their enclosure to help wearing them down? Like a ceramic tile I don't know how much they really work as I still have to clip mine. The only thing that would concern me about filing them is a) the noise and b) concern over them splitting.

I hate doing our girls nails too.. and I find I get really nervous which makes my hands sweat. (stupid I know) so I sympathise completely @Katiedid
Cocoa is a love & almost puts her paws out for us to trim. But Heidi... well Heidi was naughty the other day & wriggled & squeeked, kicked & tried to bite when it was nail trim time.
We used to have to wrap the late Pedro in a cloth or towel to trim his & it was a 2 man job.
I’m not sure there’s any easy way unfortunately.....
sometimes our vet will do a 2 for 1 nail trim.. it’s usually £15 each... expensive I know....
I’ve never used anything other than regular trims.
Sorry I can’t help more x

I wimp out and go to the vet for s nail trim.
The nurse does them and they all get a check over as well.
The nurse charge is £5 per pig.

I asked if she’d do do mine one day - all I got was a grin!

Thank you all. I may try a tile in their pen. They girls are usually ok but there is one foot I can’t get coordinated for and then the girls lose their temper with me. I may try smaller clippers too. I’ve tried toenail clippers but they don’t do the tough back nails. The pet shop clippers are too clunky. I will keep, looking.

I can totally relate. I also considered taking mine to the vet to cut nails, but I do it at home.
I ask someone to hold mine while I trim their nails. I cut very little, only the tip of it so that I am not hurting them. I use small nail cutting scissors made for pets, which I bought at the pet shop. I am not a professional so I the best I can to not hurt them while cutting their nails, so just the tip is taken off.

I cut their nails whenever I can get help from someone to hold them.

Still hate nail clippin need to do it today, 'they who must be obeyed are already grumpy' and it will not be fun for any of us.
