Nail Trimming Anxiety

I take my piggies to have their nails trimmed once a month, but it gives them extreme anxiety. I can’t just not have their nails trimmed, but I also don’t want them to hate me or getting nail trims. Does anyone have anything that worked for their piggies?

Giving my piggies lots of bribes works for me. Trust me, they do not hate you for getting their nails trimmed. They may feel a bit disgusted by it, but they move on quickly.

Have you tried trimming their nails yourself? I know it is a bit scary to trim their nails, but not everyone can. What helped me get over the worry about trimming nails was cutting the nails of my youngest child. I figure nothing is as stressful as trimming a human that wants to bite, scratch, hit, and kick me. After that piggy nail trims are nothing.

Hi, bribes works for us too...I personally don't do their nails myself due to medication I take that can impair me, however my partner has found that holding them a little firmer and against his body so they feel him behind them while their nails are trimmed seems to help a bit then when they come back to me they get some cuddles, praise and more treats...they do seem to get over it quick but no piggy will ever like their nails done...they tolerate it at best...eventually they should calm down while having it done probably more to get it over with than anything...dont worry they don't hate you they just dislike what you're doing to them at the time thats all...
