while trimming one of our girls’ nails we noticed that the one closest to the camera (in the photos) is bent sideways, is this normal or does she need to be brought to the vet?

Hi

That is normal as piggies grow up and the nails become thicker and grow out. In some piggies the older they get, the curlier and thicker the nails.

It looks like the nail is just growing curved inwards, which is quite common on piggies outer front toes, it makes them tricky to cut but is quite a normal thing to happen as they get older!

Most of my pigs have one like this.. very tricky to trim...but over time it gets easier..
