I have set up an appointment for 6 PM, and the emergency vet still hasn't confirmed my Finn's appointment and it is about 8:30 PM here. According to the emergency vet hospital, they see the most serious cases first, and then see others afterwards, so I am still waiting.

My Finn struggled during his nail cut, and I cut too much so he was bleeding. The nurse ordered me to use flour, which stopped the bleeding. I also put some ointment on his paw.

My thought is, the doctor probably thinks Finn's nail cut situation isn't as serious as others, and Finn isn't bleeding anymore, so Finn's appointment was put on hold. I still want to go to the vet to ask for some antibacterial ointment for my Finn.

Is there anything I can do to make sure he won't get infected in the meantime?

If youve cleaned the wound (you can use homemade saline solution), popped it in some cornflour or styptic powder and it has stopped bleeding in a timely manner, it’ll be scabbing over which will protect it so shouldn’t of concern any longer. Best thing once it’s stopped bleeding is to leave it alone. Just like any scab, it’s there serving it’s purpose of protecting the healing tissue and you don’t want to dislodge it.
A quick cut which stops bleeding quickly is usually not an issue and doesn’t usually need a vet check unless piggy shows signs of pain over the coming days.

The time a vet is needed for a nail quick cut is if it doesn’t stop bleeding or if it takes longer than 10-15 minutes to stop bleeding or if piggy is in pain (won’t weight bear in their foot for example).
