Not sure if this has been covered before.

Snickers will let me clip his nails under protest but as long as he gets lots of cuddle time after he will tolerate it.

Bugsy is a different matter - he has got wise to my tricks for trying to catch him and is leading me a merry dance...I can be on the other side of the room from him and I only have to move slightly and he makes a dash for his house and wont come out for ages just in case I try to catch him.

His nails really do need clipping as they are both moulting like crazy at the moment and I am worried that he is going to scratch his face and injure himself again (it happened when we first got him)...any suggestions on how to catch him without stressing him out too much and getting his nails clipped?

One of my pigs, Eliza hates us cutting her nails. So much in fact, we now have to take her to the vets to have them done!

When cutting his nails, you could try holding him in a towel. This should help him feel more secure and stop him from wigging around so much.

my best catching trick is getting them in a hidey house or tunnel... That way they are surprised (shocked I guess) but I thing it's better than the stress of getting chased around with all the teeth chattering etc... I have two girls who will fight getting picked up 'til the bitter end...

Well I mananged to collar hold of him last night and trim his nails and then...quelle disastre...his one hind leg has black nails and I'd be advised to only just nip the ends off...he moved at the wrong moment and I took off half the nail!

He jumped a 180 and shot up my arm and onto the back of the sofa in the space of about .5 of a second wheeking like mad :{. I managed to settle him down and give him some cuddle time but suffice to say he is giving me filthy looks and a very wide berth this morning!

I do my piggies' nails bit by bit during cuddle time - as many as they let me do. With the really wiggly ones, I can only do 2-3 nails at a time while others I can do in one go. But that way, it's not so stressful for you and for them.

You can have a special treat ready for afterwards, or let them have a good much of freshly cut grass or dandelions (that have not been peed on by dogs) while you are trying to cut the nails. Piggies that absorbed in food tend to forget about their bodies!
