Hi, I'm after a silver nitrate pencil to keep in my piggie first aid kit. Is there a difference in the vet type and the type you find in a pharmacy?

I’ve never used one, I assume this is to stop any bleeding if you were to over snip the nail? I think I would steer clear as it could be poisonous if your piggie managed to ingest it perhaps when grooming?
You can use plain cornflower to stop bleeding instead 😊

Yes it's for when the quick gets caught, the vet used one so thought they were safe. I'll steer clear then thanks.

I do lots of nails, and on the rare occasion I cut to far, I keep a pot of cornflower on my desk when cutting and relevant bits and bobs, just in case - It's never caused me a problem using it.

I have some of this in my first aid box. Haven't needed to use it yet but have known people use it on other rodents.
Petkin Blood Stop Swabs
Cornflower works well too though and is cheaper.
