Just tried clipping my guinea pigs nails, and I clipped on the quill and it started bleeding, and I feel so awful, it didn’t stop so I put some flour on it, because I read that helps, and I cleaned it with water and some soap to, I just don’t know if it’s possible for the quill to pop out or if it’s just a lot of blood? I didnt clip that far in :( :( :(

i’ve been holding him since, he’s very squirmy, both with clipping the nails and afterwards

The quick is a blood vessel which runs down the nail. If it is cut then it bleeds quite a bit.
If the bleeding doesn’t stop within 15 minutes then you need to take your piggy to the vet straight away.

It seems to have stopped now, it’s been about an hour but I have him lots of water, some hay and food, and I cleaned it a couple times just to be sure

Glad to hear that your piggy is ok. Try not to worry, over clipping nails is something most of us have done at some time. :D

I'm sorry, try not to feel too bad about it we've all done it at sometime.
I did it yesterday. In all the years I've had piggy's I've only done it once before on a black nail. I successfully did 5 pigs yesterday 4 of them have black nails, got to number 6 the easy one with all lovely clear nails and I somehow managed to catch the quick. Bertie squeaked at me, I felt awful. Sorry Bertie.

When I did Phoebe’s nails I always had a dish of cornflour at hand and an old towel.
She was such a wriggler that she always ended up with one nail bleeding!
