hi everyone

i put a post up about this a few months ago. However iv had him out in the day light and noticed its grown ever so slightly. I'm not being paranoid, ell said its grown to. its a fleshy lump on the end of his nose inbetween his nostrils (it doesnt block his nostrils). its difficult to take a pic of clearly but you get the idea from the pic.

i did originally ring the rodentologist who told me to keep my eye on it but not to mess with it as i could make it worse and that pigs do generally get growths etc. but as its grown i was slightly concerned. it doesnt seem to bother him.

does anyone have any ideas what it is? any advice? xx

I would recommend seeing a vet; it doesn't look like an abscess, rather a fleshy growth from what I can see.

thanks wiebke - it looks like a small fleshy lump to its hard to get a pic of it really.

my vets not very good with guinea pigs so its a waste of time going to them, i need to find a local exotic vet me thinks xx theres one in trafford which logie bear sent me, however this is still a bit of a treck for me. xx

Ohh, I see what you mean now Nic, thanks for posting a picture of it.

I wonder if piggies can get 'skin tags'? Just little fleshy lumps that have no rhyme or reason to them?

There's a small chance it could be a very localised inflammation of some sort e.g. tiny piece of hay poked him there and there's a tiny tiny bit embedded in the skin, hence a mild inflammation.........I may be way out there, but that's the main reason I would be inclined to just check with the vet. Again. (These boys are giving you the runaround!)

thanks laura, it does actually look like a little skin tag its just grown a little bigger. its rather odd really.

iv booked him in at vets tomorrow at 10am ill let you know how i get on. i hope hes ok I'm beginning to think i should of took him earlier but really just thought it was a little bit if a skin tag but now its grown x

i think your right to get him checked out as sometimes it can be little growths and in some very rare cases can be cancerous with you saying its grown a bit defo get him checked out they may have to remove it which could be done under a local depending on how deep it is and send it for biopsy to check x

Well that's a different place to see a tag.....but yeah it's what it looks like @)
Have you done a search on google to see if anyone else has seen this? i'm forever searching in case there is another case i can use for my info.
Whee all wish David lots of loves and wheeeeeeeky healing loves from us all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It would be interesting to see what they say.......

hello people, thanks for your thoughts.x

iv been to the vets. vet thinks its a wart like growth and just to leave it be. he did give a scientific name for it but iv forgot what it was haha.he said its too small to do a biopsy on it and theres not a lot he can do because of the place it is in. he told me not to worry so thats good x

vet said keep an eye on it if it grows etc but said he wouldnt think it would be a good idea to remove it as he couldnt do it without anaestetic as it wouldnt be fair on david and obviously wouldnt want to give him anaestetic etc. he said it was best to get it checked out. so I'm glad i went, it didnt cost much just a few quid. he just said if it gets really bad to go back. so fingers crossed it doesnt grow anymore. poor little david what a place to grow a wart on the end of his nose xx

thanks everyone for helping me xxxxx

Poor David, at least it's not serious, and it is a good job you got him checked out. I am glad it's good news. :)
