Hi everyone, i thought id tell you all what happened to me at the weekend1
Well its saturday evening dancing away to crimbo music and feeling a little out of breath, but carrying on anyway this was as 9pm, by 10 i was really wheezy which was odd because my asthma is very well controlled then and my being serious literally all of a sudden i stopped breathing, and it kept happening i caught my breath then stopped! i was in the middle of my first major asthma attack in wait for it 13 years! i took my inhaler but nothing it wouldnt shift i took that inhaler so much it ran out and i had nothing to help me so my mum went to get one from my nan who is on the same inhalers but by the time i got back it was too late i was sitting up with my head back trying to get any oxygen i could and the pain in my chest was unbearable! so my mum rang the dr, who said that he would send the on call dr round with a nebulizer well 10 mins had past i was seeing spots and felt so dizzy when the dr rang saying that he couldnt get to me and that he had called an ambulance! so at 11:00pm the paramedics arrived and gave me oxygen! btw that stuff rocks! talk about a high! then i was nebulized after which they took my peak flow which was around 100 when my norm is 400/450 and so i was carted by ambulance with flashing lights and sirens on oxygen to QA(Queen Alexandra) hospital where i waited in a wheelchair as i had blacked out for a dr to see me and by the time he did see me my peak flow was back to 300 but i was watched for almost two hours as my heart rate had shot WAY up i was tachiacardic! i was also TERROFIED the dr was like if you hadnt had been seen by the paramedics theres a high chance you wouldnt be here in the morning! anyway at 3am i was allowed home my mum was so scared that when i got back she nearly crushed me when she hugged me! the drs say that my consultant was wrong when i complained my inhalers didnt seem to work correctly and that if i continue to get worse i will have a home nebulizer and oxygen tank! WHAT A WEEKEND! is all i can say!

Well, much more interesting then mine! Not surprised your heart rate shot up, but you're young so i imagine it didn't take long to come back down. I hope you're ok and it doesn't lead to you needing an o2 tank at home! Try not to let that one attack stopping you doing things though. I know people who stop doing things through fear it will bring on a attack. Your piggies need you, also tell your mum if she squezzes you to death she'll have to look after all your piggies. ;D ;D

Bloomin hell, Verity! You poor love, hope all is ok now.

Love and hugs to you :-* :-*

xxxxx

You poor thing......I'm asthmatic so i totally sympathise!

Hope you re feeling alot better now.....love and hugs to you xxxxx

just took my 11 year old daughter to the asthma nurse today because the hospital have cancelled her appointment so many times, the nurse was furious, she has a nebuliser at home as well, but trys to control it with inhalers they have just given her a new one, with a preventer and reliever in together she already has a purple one that does this but this is a new one out, she also said girls rarely get as long a time thinking of being asthma free as boys but that you are always asthmatic and dont ever think you've grown out of it, which makes me worry even more about Ryan my 21 year old he had it bad as a child but seemed to grow out of it by 14 now smokes and occasionally gets wheezy, she gets it bad with running about so PE is a problem and cold weather is her trigger as is infections,
poor you I do hope you are feeling much better frightning is'nt it? my daughter is quite laid back but her peak flow can be as low as 80 the nurse said she should not go to school that low which I said no way would i send her as i know she will be bad, it should be 300 for ehr height and age but she is always 210 even today was 210 some morning shes 150,

Boy what a horrible thing to happen, sooooo glad the paramedics got to you in time.
Your mum must've been freaking out :o
Does this mean you'll have to go on a new programme, as is different puffers now?
My 3 kids have all had asthma, but we've been very lucky, they've all grown out of it.
Wishing you all the best, it's a life threatening thing and i'm so happy nothing adverse happened to you.
Take care, hugs

My and my OH had it as kids, i've now grown out of it. Unfortunalty, due to lots of chest problems this year, my lil lad had been unoficially diagnosed as having Asthma. We were told they cant diagnose it until 5 years old. But he has his inhalers and he's such a little star with then. Saying 'haler haler' if we take him to bed and forget to give it to him! Awww soo sweet.

Aww wish I would remember to take mine, then wake up coughing and complaining I can't breathe in the night! ;)

I suffer from asthma too-it can be very scary when you have a bad attack. Take care and make sure you rest lots xx

i no how u feel, hope u feel better now  :) i had a serve asthma attack @ school and i couldn't breathe at all and i was nearly fallin unconscious and was 'coughing' to get back my breath. And the school didn't believe me!  >:( so i spent the day trying to get my breathe and i couldn't walk, my friends had to support me! and after a bit of a rest i came over it, but the side affects were sickness and headaches for 4 days!  :o    my dad complained and the school sed that it didnt look like an asthma attack and they didnt think it was serious also because my attendance had been bad. Great! my attendance comes before my life!
