my afternoon is quite eventful. I have two afternoons at home so have decided to reattempt the pairing of my loner piggies. . . . In run one i have blackberry who is feisty but nearly five so calming down a tiny bit. . With jemima a head strong three year old who would like to be top dog but is actually a nervy girl and not so so tough. They're getting on the best ever, jem keeps mounting blackberry who kicks her off, they've bickered and blackberry is alternating between walking around with bum high up or really low. In between they'll eat the copious amounts of grass i've thrown in and occasionally meet nose to nose for much chatter of squeaks. So far they're mostly keeping their distance with jem stretched out in the sun. In run two i have hector the three year old boar with alfred the two month old boar. A bit of mounting and chasing from both sides but now hector lying out in sun. I think he chewed alfred's face a little a moment ago but it clearly didn't hurt. . . So what i'm wondering is, does anyone have any advice or idea of how well this may be going? I've had to tell all parties off at some point but so far no teeth chattering. . . How well is well enough to move into hutches together? Does it sound positive so far?. . .

update so far is that the two pairs are sitting in the sun quite relaxed and probably tired out by all the chattering and running and the vast volumes of grass eaten. . . So far so good. . .

Good news!

I'm no bonding pro, but in this case I would wait a little too long rather than move forward too fast. Give the ladies and gentlemen some more time in the large enclosure before moving them into a hutch. What weather is it over there? It's really warm here, maybe leave them in the run together overnight (if it's sheltered and safe). A little scare can sometimes speed up the "let's be friends process" :).

You sound like you're definitely on the right way!

latest update. . .late yesterday all appeared to be going well. . . So i decided to go for it and leave them together for the night. Their hutches are joined to runs so i could follow the advice given rather than move them again, and i made sure they had two of everything, plenty of hay and sleeping space. Today. . . All is well! I cannot believe how easily it has worked. . . . Am now hoping to get my one remaining boar neutered and move him in with the girlies. So five hutches will become two happy families! Hurrah! Which incidently leaves four empty hutches now. . . . Hmmm. . . What to do with those. . . Lol x

ooooh! More pigs, more pigs!

Seriously though, you should keep them empty for a few weeks, i have had seemingly successfull re-pairings falling out after a month of living happily together.
Fingers crossed for you though. Its all looking good so far! :(|):(|)

thats great news I just managed to turn 4 boys into 2 pairs too and it is so rewarding when it works fingers crossed it will stay harmonious! :))

the best news! Jemima and blackberry now eating bicker free. And alfred and hector snuggled up together. Hector's gone all paternal which is fab. Only time will tell how they fare as alfred grows up but right now all is so much better than i'd dared hope! X
