Thank you! I can't take naming credits though, those were the names on their adoption paperwork :)

:wel: Hello, you have such gorgeous little piggies! :wub::wub:
Totally adorable! :luv::luv:

These two are so so beautiful ! In fact my guys want to say hello ! Goliath says we should have a grooming get together day with blitzen! @zombieprincess what do you think of my chap if you love long hair ?!?! He thinks he's a king .. brush me ... if you like :xd:

Oh he is gorgeous! No wonder he thinks he's a king, and looking at him lying there you can tell he's got the "I'm awesome" vibe about him! Blitzen's actually my first longhaired pig, all my others have been shorthairs, but he's gorgeous so who was I to argue?

I just asked Blitzen what he thought of Goliath, but all I got was an annoyed "I'm trying to eat here!" stare. I'll try again in a bit XD

@MJG he certainly looks like a king with that little poof of a crest/crown on his head. I currently have 2 shelties and a peru/swiss mix. Although one sheltie and the peru x are only babies still so have not reached ultimate hairiness. I have always had at least one long haired piggy since I was about 13 :)

Gorgeous guinea pigs. I love long haired gps. In fact I love short haired ones and rosetted ones!

Your boys are stunning! Thanks for sharing them with us. Hope to see lots more of them, hope they settling in well

They are. Had Blitzen out for a bit earlier for grooming, then gave him a mini carrot - half of it ended up on the floor and he chucked it at me a few times too.

Oh, and he hates being combed. Any suggestions beyond letting him acclimatise to it? He's still young, so I imagine his coat is only going to get longer/thicker, or perhaps both. Grooming will be a must.

The old long hair don't care attitude aye? So many of my long haired pigs have hated being groomed. I'd say start off brushing him with a soft bristled brush like a baby brush or a toothbrush. I personally don't like metal toothed combs as they pull and make the piggies dislike grooming. I prefer plastic toothed slicker brushes :)

It's a plastic toothed comb, sturdy but as gentle as I can possibly get. But he's a messy wee 'un, I have never seen a carrot end up in so many pieces, especially with him still eating it. It didn't seem to be the comb he minded so much as "uh that's my fur, dang it". I'll look into the baby brush, I just feel odd using a brush on him now because he's still small.

Gentle persistence is probably as good as you can get. I've always found d that the ones that won't tolerate it rarely learn to be super comfortable. But someone else may have a grooming tip :)

I think starting them off with a brush when they're young helps them get used to it easier, and then move on to a slicker brush later when they're more settled.

I also find that putting their favourite veggies in front of them while they're being brushed improves their tolerance of it... :))

Well, there's worse things to get used to than having carrot chucked at you!

:lol!: Maybe something like a bit of parsley might be less painful! :D
