Okay, so roughly two-three weeks ago my two boys (Fred and George) were separated from each other due to Fred getting an eye injury from a fight with George. The new cage I had gotten for Fred is the exact same as the one they shared, so they each have 8 sq ft each to roam around in as opposed to only having 8 sq ft. I have attempted several times to connect their cages together (which the cage is designed for) and I thought that giving the two boys more room would solve their dominance issues. It did not, and I realize now that it was probably because they were not on neutral ground. But, I am also weary of trying to bond them again (they were together since they were babies and had no prior issues, just the occasional chattering and dominating). My reason for that is that although guinea pigs do favor buddies, my Fred doesn't really seem to mind that he's separated from his brother. On the other hand though, George is not taking this very well and chews on the bars in an attempt to try to be joined with Fred again and overall just seems distressed by the situation. I am not sure how to go about solving this issue and I don't want to put the piggies through any more stress if it isn't necessary. What are your thoughts?

Sorry to hear this. I am tagging @Wiebke in for some advice on bonding and to whether she would try again, the fact an injury occurred would alarm me from trying again
