Hi,

I have two beautiful boys called Liam and Fray, originally Liam was bought with Noel (RIP) and when Noel passed away we introduced him to Fray. The pet store allowed us to let them 'Date' a couple of times and they gone on really well.

In the last month or so they have started fighting each other, they haven't drawn blood but yelping and screeching noises, Fray seems to be the bully at the moment.

When they start fighting I take Liam into my arms and sit with him leaving Fray to 'think about what he has done' I understand that this is probably not the best way as it's obviously not working.....

Please help !

Jen

Have you seen them nip/ bite each other, teeth chatter? Any aggressive behaviour other than screeching noises?

I think removing Liam when they start scuffling might be adding to the problem, from what I've read you need to allow them to work out the dominance amongst themselves. Although it's not very nice to watch, when you remove a pig they tend to start all over again with working out the dominance. I know a common problem for boars is lack of space and hidey huts, they need a least one hut each and the bigger the cage space the better.

It might be worth having a read of the 'Boars: A guide to successful companionship' thread (it's a sticky at the top of this behaviour and bonding section) there's lots of advice in there about bonding boars and a list of issues that may come up with various tips on how to get your boys to get along :)
