i had problems bonding my three boars involved a bonded trio and a young piggie. Eventually after some time and a separation we ended up with a big enough space for three piggies to get on well together.

some might know that we lost Ginge a week ago, Ginge was one of the bonded duo. About 3 days before we lost Ginge we got a bluebell hutch from p@h (the double tier one, should be ample room) for the house, so they're nice and snug at night at in bad weather. they still have large area outside with hutches and grass for nice afternoons.

well my two remaining pigs have started to fight. It seems to be mostly coming from the original bonded pig, Chewy (used to be the quietest), towards to slightly younger pig - who is over his teenage moodiness now, isn't trying to hump him or fight. He just wants to be near him, sometimes chewy will let him lie down with him other times he wont stand him to be on the same floor as him - started getting a bit nasty from yesterday.

I'm not sure if hes getting like this as a delayed reaction to his friend leaving, they didn't seem that close when Ginge was still with us though. Or hes challenging him over the new environment, although it took over a week to happen? Or as single pigs they're just not compatible.

I have read through the grieving sticky but most info relates the the normal two piggy bond!

sorry about the essay!

Are you sure that it is fighting or simply dominance now that the leader is gone and a new hierarchy needs to be established? Boars need to re-establish their hierarchy in any new surroundings as a matter of course. It can test a bond.

I'm not overly sure - i think it may be a reestablish of dominance, but yesterday Chewy bit Dougs lip, the swelling has gone down and I'm cleaning it regularly and he did draw blood.

they currently sleeping on the same floor but not near each other - we aren't at at splitting up stage but i am concerned it may get to that level and i hate to see them as unhappy piggies!

If it is a full-on bite to the face or rump, then you usually have had it. :(
Please read more in the fall-out guide; it is very detailed.
