Now the school summer holidays are here I have a few weeks to finally sort out my shed before I start my PGCE in September when I will have no time to get it done! My Dad is going to sort the paving stones as the base this weekend and then it'll be ready to assemble.

I have this shed and I'm so exited for it to be done. It's been sat in my Dads shed for months as the weathers been too bad to start anything.

I also went out to buy some paint today...

I was planning on a blue beach hut theme or purple but saw these and thought it'd look better in the garden.

Once the shed is up I'll be getting a big hutch for the girls. I am hoping for a 5x2 double hutch like the Summer Lodge in P@H (even though I'm reluctant but everything else is just too expensive for my budget as I've spent so much already!)

I will use this thread to update you on the shed happenings which will get started on the weekend hopefully :D

Very exiting!

Woohoo, i love reading about shed projects so will keep an eye out for updates from you! Good luck!

oooo that is the colour I am painting the hutch I bought from you! (willow)

Not got the hutch out of the box yet!

will look for updates - long term my piggies will be going in a shed too, but not this summer.

So preperations have begun. We realised that the space we had(on the left hand side of this picture) was a bit of a tight squeeze. My Dad decided it would be better to move the path over half a metre so we could move the shed out further from the wall so we could walk around it.

Next step is to place some concrete slabs down as a base.

Just so this thread sin't all pictures of wood...Here are some pictures I forgot to upload of the piggys out in the run scoffing some grass while my Dad was moving the path (and I was watching!)

Update...

Project shed is well underway today!

My Dad has been leveling the ground and putting the sand down before the paving stones can go down for the base and I've started painting all the small peices of wood and the door in the dark green colour.

Who knew a shed as sich hard work! Wish we halready had a paved area! It would save a lot of hassle!

I'm hoping to get painting the main panels in the light green 'Willow' tomorrow but rain has been forecast for tomorrow :(

Here are some pics...

Stupid amounts of bits and pieces to sort...

All the panels sorted out and all the trim pieces of wood painted...(did the door later on)

Had a whale of a time with project shed today so crossed fingers that the rain won't stay with us too much longer! Everything has been moved back inside for the time being.

I am so glad I have come across this thread :) I can follow your thread now for when mine comes next week. Are you insulating it in the winter and if so, how will you do it? Are your piggies free ranging in it? I can't believe I have brought a smaller version of the same shed xx

I love the colours you've chosen - I keep looking at those for mine! I got the wood stain with my shed (same place as you got yours from) but I wanted something for the inside - these paints look perfect.

Looking forwards to seeing it up! It'll look great!

I'll be putting in insulation. Either just big bubble, bubble wrap or maybe this kind of stuff http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/161206 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2m-X-5m...ain_3&var=&hash=item8bb496d27f#ht_2383wt_952- I'm still looking into what will be best and most cost effective as I've already spent a small fortune and I'll be a poor student again in September as I'm going to do my PGCE.

I'll be covering it then with some hard board and painting the inside cream :D

The shed will just be somewhere for the hutch to go to shelter from the wind and rain. I'll most likely be getting the Summer Lodge as it's the biggest space for my budget. It's 5x2 so I'll still have 4x4 to play with to keep all my piggy stuff and a char and a small table for me to escape to do my uni work :D I'm so exited!

The paint is fab! It's so much cheaper than the Cuprinol paints. It's pet safe once dry and you can use it inside or out!

That last post was for you - i forgot to quote! X

Fab thread thank you, I was looking at the foil insulation for my piggie shed project.
I'll be reading your updates :)

I got this stuff when it was on offer. It was £16 a roll - buy one get 3 free, so it worked out at £4 a roll. I was supposed to insulate the shed last winter but the radiator I had in there kept them toastie. I'll be putting the insulation up, boarding - like you, and painting, I'll also post pictures when my shed is finally finished. Both hutches (bunnies and piggies)will be getting the same colour treatment to make them look nice and new. :)

The project has become a family project! My brother has now become involved! My dad needed a hand moving the slabs to make the base so big bro to the rescue.

Obviously I co-ordinated the whole thing... I was actually trying to be entertaining and randomly started to do a Step In Time and Chim Chinemy routine with a sweeping brush but apparently it wasnt the time or the place for a Mary Poppins medley! Haha! mallethead

Anyway... I didn't remember to get a picture of the final base (too busy being silly!) but had one half way through.

There a now 6 slabs down and it's a few centimeters over 6x6 so the shed will fit perfectly on top.

It's now covered in plastic and we're gonna have to wait for the rain to stop and have a full day putting it up! Hopefully will be this weekend :D

Rain rain go away, come back when I've finished my shed! 8...8...

The weather has been so bad here we havn't even been able to start assembly.

I'm on holiday now for two weeks so my shed's on stop for a few weeks.

I've changed my plan for insulation now. My friend contacted me after I put a plea for help on Facebook and said he said he insulated his grandfathers shed with insulated plasterboard (plasterboard with polystyrene already on it). He says it's worked really well and his grandfather spends a lot of time in there in the winter with his trains. This is what I'm going to use. I've also been recomended a insulate plasterboard called Celotex but it's quite pricey!

Putting fibreglass insulation up right against the side of the shed without a gap will draw in moisture and cause damp and eventually rot in the shed so I am avoiding this type of insulation totally. With the insulated plasterboard it leaves an air pocket between the insulation and the shed wall which will then provide extra insulation and will let air circulate without causing damp (hopefully!).
