I have finally put my piggies outside in a lovely shiny new house and pen. I was hoping that this would solve my problem. Patch, my little girl, was often excluded by her mum Mirtle and Gertie. We had both her brother castrated in a bid to widen the group for Patch. However, both boars sit together and so do the two sows. So poor little Patch is still on her own. She looks so sad.

What can I do??:...:...:...:...

PS yes the two boars are quite happy living togther. I know it's unheard of, but they truly are remarkable.

Appologies, I have put this on behaviour, but I suppose it would count as emotional health. I have finally put my piggies outside in a lovely shiny new house and pen. AWW that's sad. I have a guinea girl who choses not to sit with the others. Yours wants to but no one will?

Can you get her a friend? I know on here some people suggest taking your guinea along to a rescue and letting her pick someone that she feels a bond with right away? Could you manage another?

Guinea pigs on their own are sad. I just got a new baby as I had one that couldn't go in with the others just now as one is on antibiotics and she was so sad it made me feel sad too. So I know what you mean.

I think she does choose to sit on her own. I have another piggy who does this from time to time, but I know she's ok. I have just contacted my local rescue and told them of my problem. Hopefully, they'll get back to me. It's just what checks that they do. I have asked about this in the rehoming section, plus asked the local animal rescue too.

It might be confusing having 3 threads on the same thing - if you ask a mod they can merge it for you.

I've replied to your other thread ;)

What a great grouping i'd love that, poor patch though :( not sure what you could do really, are you sure she doesn't just like to be on her own a bit more? There's always the option of letting her choose a friend from a rescue and either keeping them two as a pair separate from your original group or hope that an even number of 6 will stop pigs from being left out? Do they get along well with her like share food and run round with her or do they totally exclude her? Difficult predicament! Hope you can get it sorted out.

I am so sorry that Patch is still on her own; if you can afford it, get her her own companion; preferably one she can choose for herself.

As you have got two boars with the group, I'm a bit reluctant to say that you might not obly look for a female companion, but a neutered male. The introduction of another boar (even only the smell) could upset the lovely balance between your two boys.

There have been lots of big rescues around the country lately, so you might be in with a chance of finding a baby girl for Patch, which should hopefully work well as well.

I am looking for a little girl for her. She seems ok. Although others don't run with her. They eat with her though. It's heartbreaking.

You might like to post a thread in the "guinea pig wanted "section (PLEASE state your region!) or have a look on here for rescue centres (note that babies are quite often not on the website, so it's worth ringing up and asking): http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk

GOOD NEWS!!!!1

May have panicked unnecessarily. There has been some sorted of 'pack order' being established. I snook out tonight to find little Patch tucked up nice and cosy with one of the boars. Two other girls asleep and the 'top dog' boar asleep.

God, I sooooo need this site.

Thanks again. Good night, God bless. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

YAY how good is that? Oh the worry they put us through eh? Mostly for nothing. I'm so glad they are snuggling up!

I have done nothing but worry! I only wanted two boars. Ended up with three sows and two of the most gentlest baby boars.

Just glad they're getting on better. xx
