When I went to clean out my 3 boars this morning I was taking them out for their usual run time when I noticed a huge gash on Cookies face! It runs from the inside of his left nostril right down to his lovley piggy lips
I have no idea which of the other two is the culprit, Sherbert and Fudge are both completely unscathed, so I have removed Cookie from the trio.
A few days ago I rescued a gorgeous little 12 week old boar who has been on his own whilst I checked him out for any illnesses etc. So I took a gamble and introduced Cookie to baby Marshmallow (n.b....My kids pick the names, I have no idea why they are all named after food ). Thankfully the introduction seems to have gone well with nothing worse than a few rumbles and they are both snuggled up in their hay mountain in my indoor cage where I can keep an eye on them incase I'm wrong about their new found friendship.
I'm thinking of removing the ramp from my two level hutch and keeping the pairs separatly on each level. Would this cause any problems? Would the scents of the other boars so close cause problems or anything? I know this probably sounds like a stupid question but I want to make sure that I choose the right solution that means my four boys live in peace
Also should I do anything to Cookies wound? It looks clean although fairly deep, He is eating well and dosn't seem bothered by it. Should I take him to the vet anyway? Do I need to clean it or just leave it? Sorry for all the questions ")
