I think my piggy is getting braver his full head is out, I'm sure he can see me but I'm not that near his cage... Should I talk to him or just leave him. I guess it's progress from sitting in the corner terrified :)... I'm getting excited :)!:))

I mever knew what his head looked like lol... he is eating hay should I give somemore?

he squeaked and ran away but I'm still happy he is making more progressive... I spoke to him and gave him more food so he associates me with yummy food and realises I won't hurt him! I can't wait till he wants to play.. this is only his 2nd day and yesterday he didn't move at all so nice to see his head lol. I hope he starts eating again. Not trying to lifts him yet as don't want to traumitise the poor fella.

I could swear he is making a really low squeak does that mean anything?

Here are tips for settling a new guinea pig: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36239

Leave little treats near the hide and then slowly further away; you can try and offer them a bit later, but don't be disappointed if he won't take them, just leave them lying near.

It is an encouraging sign that he is starting to "talk" and showing sign that he is starting to settle and explore his new home. Continue to talk to him as much as you can, so he gets sued to your presence.

Thanks Vicky I read that yesterday :). He tend to steel his treats when no one is there, I'm pretty sure he knows I'm here so he must be feeling braver either that he is starving lol! I can't wait till he settles.. I always find being patient so hard lol... but I know it'll be worth it! Maybe I'll be more hay on the otherside of the cage so has to come right out?/

My piggies were like that when I first got them, now (month and half later) Mabelle will take from my hand and eat in the same spot, but Sasha still snatches and runs into a hide with it! If I can, I hold on tight which makes her stay there and eat :)

Good luck! It is slow slow with some of them. Mine still don't like to be picked up. Although they did surprisingly well at the vet check this week. I think I just need to go for it!

:)p

Pigeon type noise what does it mean (brr)?!

I picked him up he was perfect just for 10 minutes, but when I put him back in he made like a pigeon type noise like a brrr anyone have any ideas what that means?

I've not managed to hold mine for 10 mins yet! But I've read that they wriggle a bit after a short time so they might want popping back so they don't wee on you :)

I must admit he didn't wiggle he just froze but I wasn't holding him to tight so he could move I just patted him behind his wee ears but since I put him back in he made that brr sounds and now is in hiding, probably praying i don't lift him again... I know normally after 15 minutes they need a pee.. in fairness I thought he pee'd on me but he hadn't! I can hear movement now so he must be feeling better! :)p

I think you should just go for it they rarely bite just hold them and support there bum makes them feel safe or get a wee blanket :)), he just popped his head out there so he is happy enough! :)... munching away... trying to be discreet its hillarious lol! :)p

Well, I've got a big run that I put up in the lounge and I sit in with them and I've managed to get them on my knee by either picking them up in the toilet box or their bed thing and them then climbing out. Have a quick hold then they jump off! But when we went to the vets, she just grabbed in then I held them whilst she did her stuff. There was a little bit of kicking out but on the whole they were very very good :)

My bf just lifted Mabelle out of the run in his bed and put him on the sofa and he is fine, its just me, I need to be brave on the original grab! Going to have a go in a little while :)p

I know what you mean sometimes I think I'm more scared of him than he is me! lol.... Which I know obviously isn't true! I'm always scared to hurt them :(, but it's just me being silly took me all my time to get the courage up too!
